Mate’s was a ’71 VW Beetle-robin’s egg blue. Captain went with a ’63 Corvair (and lived to tell about it!), dark red, and he wouldn’t drive out to the road in it today. That must be why we got together-we both were into the rear engine thing.
Well, we were discussing this today, and maybe the explanation is more low-tech. With more people using Blackberries and iPhones and accessing the internet on the fly, perhaps the chance of entering the numbers into evince incorrectly increases. Of course, that locks you out for a time and perhaps some don’t have the patience for a second try.
Tandem kayaks can be a chore to paddle if one person is just riding, although they are probably more stable than a canoe. We don’t have a lot of canoe experience, but that sounds like a better option than kayaks for your situation. On the other hand, the kids will grow into helping with the paddles as they get more experience in the boats. We’ve had our niece (7th grade) out in our tandem kayak and she paddles pretty well.
STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!
We have 23 active caches and that seems like a pretty comfortable number for us to maintain. We will certainly do more, but don’t have a limit in mind-we’ll know when we get there. However, we definitely feel there is a point a few cachers reach where they are hiding way more caches than they can properly maintain, which definitely detracts from the game. On the other hand, we think the vast majority of folks do a really great job keeping their caches up and running.

Ok, we rethought our position on this one. Yes, it’s a challenge, but there are too many other neat caches out there to spend all that much time on something like this. Maybe if we find ourselves with too much time on our hands…until then, no thanks!

Glass and geocaching don’t mix.
Agreed. There are so many other choices, why take a chance on glass?

I’ve enjoyed technology and the outdoors my entire life and I’ve learned a lot more about both from geocaching.
We’d probably fit here, too. We’ve always enjoyed the outdoors. Although neither of us is a tech wiz, we enjoy learning new things and getting the hang of new gadgets.
The cache referred to by Zuma seems to be a little much! 🙄
Our first TB disappeared from the first cache it was in and was never heard from again. Others we’ve sent out have done great and are still on the move. It’s a crap shoot, but it is pretty disappointing when one goes MIA. Mostly, we’d like to think it’s due to ignorance rather than maliciousness. We’ll probably send more out, but we have become more selective in choosing caches in which to drop them.
We have a T-shirt (received it as a gift) that has the name of a fake company and the words “street lamp inspection and maintenance” under the name.
Wow-that’s some story. Hope we never run into that lovely bunch. No, we’ve never run into anyone who wasn’t totally friendly and pleasant, let alone as obnoxious as those people were.
Actually, Mate and I do pretty well in our tandem. She does get a little testy if she thinks I’m not paddling enough, but I always sit in back so I can sneak in a little break now and then. 😉 We’ve talked about switching to 2 singles, but haven’t gotten motivated to pull the trigger on that move yet.
After all this, we’re suddenly feeling a lot better about having had to work all day yesterday and today.
