We enjoyed “Starlight” GC1HX98

I also have to question group caching where the group finds 75-100 caches in 6-8 hours in an area they never cached in before, or anywhere for that fact. Looking at the conservative side of 75 caches in 8 hours, that comes out to one find every 6.4 minutes. It’s impossible.
This is something we’ve wondered, too. Our personal record for one day is 40 and we busted our humps for 11 hours to get those. How anyone can claim 100 or more in one day is beyond us. Are we just missing something?
Our most frequent partners are Commander & Chief. We’ve also been out with Search4menow, Team Deejay, and Stumbleweeder.
This is an easy one. Our pet peeve is people who yak on their cell phone while checking out in a store as people are waiting behind them. We should be able to legally confiscate the phone and smash it if we so choose. 👿
We had just a day or so earlier decided that a first-aid kit would be a good addition to the cache bag. We were doing some winter caching at Lapham Peak and had found a cache with a stubborn top that just wouldn’t come off. I (Captain) got out the multi-tool and was using the knife blade (serrated) to try and pry it off. My hands were pretty cold and I dropped the knife. Common sense would have prevented using a knife for that purpose at all, but I went all the way in the wrong direction by trying to catch it on the way down. Naturally, I didn’t catch the handle and the first-aid kit came in pretty handy. No stitches were required, but Mate still reminds of that brain cramp.
A Palm, some knee-high rubber boots, and more ultra-fine Sharpies than a normal household would ever own.
Pretty cool! Thanks for sharing. 8)
The oldest cache we’ve found is GC4C4 (hidden 3/17/01) with 285 finds-not even close!
“So, you’re retired, huh? When are you going to move to Florida?”
There seems to be an endless supply of twists and turns, new places to visit, new hide styles to learn, new people to meet, and new challenges. This never gets boring!
Maybe the Packers should give #4 to one of the rookies or perhaps a punter, as suggested on WKLH this morning. 👿
Thank you, Nate. You and Crippler did a great job organizing the event, it was well-attended, and we really enjoyed seeing all those cachers right here in the old hometown. Nicely done! 😀
A bunch of our caches got found today following a Flash Mob event in Lake Geneva and we didn’t get notifications for any of them. Never had that happen before.
Have you ever DNF’d a cache and were pretty sure it had gone missing (and you noted that in your log)? Then, several more DNF’s follow yours, but the cache owner doesn’t indicate that he’s disabling it or has done maintenance. You’d like to think the owner has checked it, but you’re not sure if (or when) you should take the time to go look for it again.
We would definitely want to keep finding. Thank goodness there are lots of creative folks out there to keep the interesting hides coming, but we are content with our 20+ hides and really enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Besides, we spent a good chunk of the day yesterday just maintaining a few hides and could never understand how those with hundreds do it. Happily, most cachers are very responsible about maintenance, but those who aren’t are a major pet peeve for us.
