Yay! Thanks for all the work and dedication!
So, GS has a sense of humor? Who knew?
We’ve had this happen: while logging caches from more than one day, we changed the date for the earlier finds and then forgot to change it back to the current date for the others. Since we almost always find and log on the same day, it was an easy mistake to make. However, with the current popularity of calendar black-outs, we understand why you’d have suspicions about people intentionally falsifying the date.
Now, after checking our new notifications, we noticed one reviewer was from Maryland and the other from somewhere in the mountains. The profiles looked legit. Is it “reviewer switch day?”
April Fool’s joke? Maybe our reviewers altered their profiles somehow just for today.
Just my impression, but I was thinking the OP was being critical of badly placed and/or poorly maintained PnG’s, not PnG’s in general.
It’s true that nobody is required to search for the caches in question. However, they do take up space, perhaps preventing others from placing caches of higher quality. Also, the “GCRM” part of it sets a terrible example for newer cachers.
Ours was fine today.
You could try loading from the GPS drop down on GSAK and not use a macro at all. There’s a “setup” option where you select the unit you are using. If your particular Nuvi isn’t listed, there is a “generic” choice which works with ours.
It is cool, but does it appear, at the end, that they simply toss the underwater cache back? Wouldn’t they have to dive again and reattach it?
Actually, we might have it figured out. Setting IE as the default seems to have cleared up the issue. Not sure why this was not a problem until recently, though.
Sounds like it was real challenge! Congratulations!
We just got one this week and used it on a test run doing some caches yesterday. It worked well and we’d say Codejunkie’s review is right on. We probably won’t rely on it as our number 1 unit, but it was a nice complement to our Legend CX.
Great job! We still remember meeting you guys at a “Flag” cache several years and many caches ago. Your logs are always a treat to read. Congratulations!
OK-I did try sending some waypoints with it set to “Nuvi (generic)” and it worked. Ours is a 1450T.
