Although I might have been offended if I had gotten to read the post, now I am rather unhappy that I don’t have that opportunity.
Maybe someone could e-mail a copy to me, so I could at least decide which is worse?
None the less, gaining the opinions of the board and other cachers with a certain amount of stature in Wisconsin geocaching brings about a certain “feel-good” factor. Naturally, this gives a greater enjoyment to my participation.
My comment was not in regards to the subject of temp hides in particular, but in general.
Sometimes the forums are reminicent of working at a job where the management never provides input. It can be an awfully lonely place at times.
I am thankful for those who choose to be vocal, even if none of us can agree.

That’s the problem with board members sometimes. They have an opinion on a subject but keep it to themselves. It would really be a shame if someone got shunned for expressing their feelings around here.

you know remove it at the end of the weekend and disable it after a week or so
so every one hes time to log in all there temp find !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I understand and agree with the idea that one should be able to log temp caches in a different method that currently allowed, carrying out your suggestion would be a violation the cache permanence policy of geocaching.com. The staff of geocaching.com has also displayed a negative attitude as to any new types of temporary cache logging.
It has been suggested by some that temporary caches should not be logged as a find on the geocaching.com website. The Wisconsin Geocaching Association board members have assumed a NEUTRAL opinion on this subject and it has been said that each cacher can and should decide on his or her own as to if they will in the future log this type of cache or not.
Personally, I have never logged a temporary cache. I could not care less as to what anyone else chooses to do, as long as their find count is a true indication of how many caches they have found.
Good stuff guys! Nothing better than real measurements. Batteries are like frogs…. I will never forget that line.
So, if you see people at the campout with meter probes dangling from their gear…….
Finding out about the various batteries is an easy task. Finding out how much current the various GPS receivers draw is not so easy. In my experience, the battery life expectancy reported by Magellan and Garmin is untrue. It also makes a big difference as to what mode the GPS is in, and how often the buttons are being pressed.
Yellow Etrex with regular Energizer batteries locked onto satellites without using any functions- batteries lasted about 15 hours.
I believe there is a Coast Guard station around there? The Kenosha Coast Guard gives an excellent class on navigation. You should check with the local branch.
There are facts, and then there are opinions. Facts are something that can be proven. Opinions are based off personal beliefs or feelings.
We can live life being rational, and base our decisions on what is true and what is real. or we can live life believing something, which might be untrue or unrealistic.
There are also those among us who are unable to develop a manner of living which demands honesty. But we should not shun these sick people, for we are all sick to some degree. Treat them as a sick person should be treated.
In life, our troubles are basically of our own making. Often, we will believe something to be true, but because others fail to see things the same way, we might feel offended or disregarded.
In places such as these, you cannot see the look on my face, or hear the tone of my voice. Often, these things may mean more than the words which I speak.
It is because I am self-seeking that I wish to be accepted, respected, and agreed with.
But I will hold no resentment, and will remember that on this earth I am only another much like you.
Like most bugs that torment us- when we are outnumbered 1,000,000 to 1, do you really think it makes any difference what we do with the few we find on us?
You don’t really have to have GSAK, but it is nice for other things.
The instructions you are looking at use GPX Spinner & Plucker, both of which are free and work great.

In the past we talked about ways to get inactive members to return the website. Many cachers I have spoken to don’t check the site often, if ever. Why not send an e-mail to all of our members announcing major events such as the campout? It would also be a way to help keep our member list up-to-date.
Anything with DEET seems to be the way to go. When I soak myself with Deep Woods OFF (green can) I have had no ticks. Remember last year’s campout? It was too cool for the mosquitos to be bad, so most of us didn’t use anything. I don’t think anyone got through the campout without picking off several ticks. Last year had perfect weather conditions for the ticks. One bushwack through the Kettle Moraine, I seem to remember finding at least 25 on me, but got them all off before any really got me. After that, I stocked up on the DEET.
or test it by throwing it in your freezer for a few days.
Does this mean that Arcangl7 is providing all the caches?
