What a trip down memory lane!
I had a TI-99/4a that used a regular tape recorder for data storage. I remember staring at lines of code on the Trash-80’s big green screen. What about the Commodore 64? After my high school got a few Apple computers, they sent me to a word processing competition at a nearby college. Although I never have been very good at typing, I won the event… mainly just because I knew how to use the computer better that the others. Programming in BASIC- no hard drives yet- then DOS came along and we got our first IBM compatable. DOS only of course- There was no Windows. I saw Windows 3.1 for the first time while I was in the military. I couldn’t stand it and continued using DOS. My next PC was a P120 that is still around here somewhere.
I was also the test dummy for my school’s first electronic class- I was the only one in it.Although I could not attend, I want to thank Rhonda for all the effort she has put forth with the Madison area parks. It is efforts like these that are going to keep WI geocaching friendly.
If you would like to get together for some GPS pointers and an introductory cache or two, drop me an e-mail at
rjohnson36@wi dot rr dot comI live just off KR and it would be my pleasure.

Yes, there are a lot of caches in those areas, and a few hotels too. To find geocaches, I just upload a pocket query of all the caches within range of my travels. If you have a good GPS, it will show you where the hotels are too.
Yes I am answering this question after the fact, and yes I am answering with tounge-in-cheek.
What was that you wanted to know?
Where do you live? Knowing that, there is a good chance that one of us would be happy to meet you for a couple hours of caching to give you some pointers and get you started.
Another great option is to join us for an event. For now, just bring some suitable clothing for a day outdoors.
This link has the 5 events that are presently scheduled. Grab one of us and tell us you are new, we will be happy to give you an introduction to our sport!

I was not looking at selling them openly. My thoughts were more of distributing only among active WI association members for special awards and the like.
Having a coin distributed to the masses is a fine idea too.
If we could find a fair price on a run of 100 coins, I think we would have done it already. There is a lot of interest, but the cost of minting a small run was beyond what we could distribute them for.
If anyone finds a deal- we can sure look into it further!
Thanks for putting that together! It will come in handy for some future hunting!
It’s actually good that we don’t always agree. We will always benefit when posts are made that explain why each of us thinks an idea is good or bad. When all the thoughts are brought out into the open, it becomes a lot easier to understand the bigger picture.
A negative comment without a complete explanation of the reasoning behind it is just that- a negative comment. It only tends to fan the flames.
We will also benefit by attempting to keep individual replies on topic with the original post. If you have a new idea, start a new thread. I doubt anyone will have any problem coming to the boards to find new threads. It also makes it a lot easier to search for a particular topic at a later date.
We have a great group full of great ideas- It’s up to us to make it even better.
It is great to see one of my favorite teams logging another milestone! I wish you many more!
Congratulations on another great milestone. With everything you give to us, it’s hard to believe you find time to hunt some too!
Wow! It would be a true feat to keep up that pace! Well done and congratulations!
Congratulations Steve! 100 is such a rewarding milestone.
Now get back to work on those yaks!
Even after the second edition of Win98 came out, it was not very USB friendly. I would work on making sure your USB works with other devices before looking for other issues. Once we know if your USB works or not, we can go from there.
Also, early versions of EasyGPS did not support USB. Make sure your WIN98 machine has the newest version of EasyGPS (version 1.3.7).

What software are you using? Do other USB devices work on the Win98 system?
