Code writers are funny, in that they take what could be very simple, and make it confusing. Maybe it’s self-preservation.

I have learned the little bit I know by studying the source code that TB reffered to. Here’s a couple basic ones that provide most of what a cacher needs-

To insert and image on a page use the line-

Broken down, the image tag is telling the browser that there is an image to be loaded, and the src tag is followed by the actual url to fird the the image to load. In this case, the image is located at- http://wi-geocaching.com/banners/ and the filename of the image is- banner-large-border.gif. Following that is the border tag, which is just that; it specifies that the image should have a border around it and the number “1” specifies a fine border. A “0” would mean no border, whereas a “5” would be a thicker border.
Again the align tag is just that, specifying where the picture should go on the page- left, right, or center.

To change the page background, use the tag-

filling in the url to match that of the picture you want to use as a background.

Any pictures you use on a web page must first be uploaded to a web server. If you do not have space on your own isp’s server, you could upload the picture to your geocaching.com photo gallery (if it is small) or to the WGA photo album, which is accessed through the WGA homepage.

The formatting of these tags is very important! One missed slash or misspell, and it won’t work.

    Hope this helps!

Congatulations! May your next hundred be even more satisfying than the first!

Although I do not like to pay a fee to hunt a geocache in a park, I will take another stance on this issue.

I tend to believe that many of our parks are in a state of disrepair and/or are in need of major improvements. The residential population and park usage has in some cases increased by tenfold, yet the budgets for park services are the first to be effected by budget cuts. Parks & recreation departments are at the bottom of the list when it comes to governmental priorities.

We think little of spending $50 on dinner, $25 on a movie, $40 on a night of bowling or $75 on a game of golf; yet we become bothered by being asked to pay a small fee to maintain and improve our parks and other natural resources?

A fee controls excessive usage through supply and demand. It also allows for proper care and growth. Don’t we all have a great desire to see our parks well maintained, improved, and additional lands be set aside for the future? Park fees should be standardized and most likely even raised to enable these things to happen in the most efficient manner possible.

    Sad, but true!

Learned of Geocaching through my sister of Team PWB.
Occasionally use my GPSr for getting un-lost, marking fishing holes, and finding my car.
Temperature has yet to stop me, although freezing rain or sleet takes the fun out of it rather quickly. Preparation is the key. Several changes of clothes, including footwear, ponchos, coats, hats, gloves, etc. Biggest problem is making room in the car for the groceries. [ ]

I am very happy to report that I tried and received pq’s via my Roadrunner account tonight. I thinks she’s fixed!!

Another thought would be to hold an event cache & make paperless geocaching the main topic of the event. Maybe throw in some advanced GPSr and PC use for Geocaching demonstrations also? I would enjoy seeing how others go about projecting waypoints, uploading track logs, and demonstrations of how others are using the various map software such as streets & trips, metroguide, roads & recreation, USAPhotomaps, etc.

I know of a nice eatery in Kenosha that we could get our own room for everyone to bring their toys to and we could have pizzas and soda (or steak & lobster ) at the ready. I participated in a couple of non-geocaching seminars there previously and it worked out very nicely. I’d be happy to help if this is of interest to Brian & the Group.

The problem here is that there are only about 30(?) members active on the WGA message boards and several hundred hides placed by people who are not active or have no association to the WGA. Very tough on all approvers to have to try to enforce such a situation. Is there any chance that someone has a contact within Groundspeak that could release a e-mail listing of ALL WI cachers to Grousetails?

I’d come, but the thought of The Beast in swimwear is toooo scary!

in reply to: Bounced Email #1736249

There is a problem between geocaching.com and roadrunner. Roadrunner is blocking all groundspeak email. No email sent to [email protected] via the groundspeak server are being received. This includes pocket queries and emails forwarded by that persons profile page. Hopefully this issue will be fixed soon. I recommend that all roadrunner customers use an alternate e-mail and update their geocaching.com profile to the alternate e-mail until the problem is corrected. Some free mail services include hotmail.com, among others.

Can’t be cloning …. i’m the coolest guy I know.

Congratulations MadisonJoe for locating your first 100 containers of happy meal trinkets. Don’t forget to see the sights while you are out there.

Now that you mention it…i’m on wi.rr.com & have not seen a pocket query all weekend. I also recieved some spam today, which is abnormal, as I am somewhat protective of my e-mail address. I wonder if THIS is what’s happening? Let me know if you learn anything more.
