I wont try to change your mind either. I will say that i’ve done nearly $10,000 in E-Bay transactions, and have yet to be stiffed. Like Steve said, feedback ratings are the primary indicator, and knowing the product well is the best thing a buyer can do.
Scored my Legend new in box last fall on E-Bay. Can be had for < $150 if you look around a bit. Have a LOOK HERE
One thing– Make sure the seller gives you a real reciept that does not mention e-bay or auction. Garmin warranty does not apply if your reciept shows it to be an auction item.

Twice this weekend I made the mistake of following Trudy & the Beast. After being forced to climb down a mountain and ford an icy stream, I was again reminded of why I love geocaching.
I am thankful to have so many active cachers placing their great hides all around me. Although gone is the day when I could take an hour to go out for a quick find; the areas I am traveling to now are adding to my list of favorites.
Thanks to all the WGA and it’s members, there is no place i’d rather be but here…..in OUR woods!
I don’t know who’s worse- Bob posting at 1 in the morning, or Ray replying at 6 in the morning. Go back to sleep folks!!
This may be a great idea, but the map is not part of the WI Geocaching Association (WGA) website. It is merely a link to Ed Hall’s Website at Buxley’s Geocaching Waypoint.
Other than the sport of geocaching being the primary topic, the websites are not inter-related. In fact, Jeremy Irish, who owns and operates geocaching.com had a disagreement with Buxley some time ago, and thus you will find no links to Buxley’s website on the Geocaching.com website at all.
There are many ways to track your finds and hides & produce maps of areas you are planning to cache in. This website, and meeting people at event caches, are a great way to learn more that one might imagine.

Congratulations Socko! 1000 is right around the corner now. Even tougher without being able to claim finds for all your great hides.
HERES a little taste of what USAPhotoMaps can do.
I don’t recommend it so much for dial-up connections unless you don’t mind downloading your areas of interest for hours on end. I have about 1/2 of WI downloaded into my PC. As my caching keeps expanding out further, I just keep downloading more area. Then again, you can have my cable modem when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands.
Oh, and if you want to continue this discussion, you should probably start a new thread in the “help” or “general” forum. This forum is for suggestions to the WGA.

A new Chicago Area Breakfast Event has been scheduled for December 27th! Check it out HERE!
Congratulations on a truly great milestone! I wish you the best of luck on the next 500.
Well Done! To turn a “no” into a “yes” is a great acomplishment. It takes a special kind of person to go out there and do what you have done. Congratulations and Thank You!
I see the concept as really not much different than the “State of Mind” competition that Socko put on, but in a different scale.
I think if I was going to host such an event, I would spread about 10 caches out in areas preferably outside the suburban area. I would want the event to consume 6-9 hours, depending on the placements.
I would also like to do a longer event; lets say 10 caches spread across 1/2 of the state. Could even use some existing caches with assistance from the cache owners. That event could be done over the course of a weekend. The cash prize is a bonus; I look more forward to the fun of the competition.
The game could actually be started online- the teams all pay via paypal; at a set time and date, the coordinates, hints, and other info are e-mailed to all the teams. Once a team is done, they would have to call or meet the “judge” to prove their finds. All teams would later meet for a supper gathering at a pre-determined place and time to discuss the great time had by all.
I’m excited just thinking about it! Opinions and ideas? Bring em’ on!

I think it’s a great idea, and would even propose “upping the antie”. People make their own choices as to how they are going to drive, climb, jump, etc. everyday, and it is not an issue. Make it so that it would be unlikely for 2 teams to ever be racing to the same cache; take the word “Geocaching” out of the game as to not upset the others & let’s go play!
There were several improvements made to the travel bug page format today & you may have stumbled on a glitch. Try it again now.
The kids must be complaining about how you are working them so hard; surely there’s no other way 300 would have came so quick.
Congratulations, and happy holidays!
Since we are kind of on the subject…. can anyone detail the differences between Garmin Roads & Recreation and Metro-Guide?
I use R&R, and have yet to find a road not mapped, including many logging trails in the northern half of the state, which really impressed me. I have ran into a new road or two that were built after the maps were made.
I know Metro-Guide has more POI’s and will autoroute on a PC, but what else is different?[This message has been edited by Cathunter (edited 12-08-2003).]
