hmmmm…your post sure does make it sound as though you’re concerned about the numbers as well

The thing about hosting an event is that you get to plan it the way you want it. You can put the caches where you choose and people can either go find them or not…that’s completely up to them. The events aren’t supposed to be held for the primary purpose of caching anyhow! The hides are just a bonus to the day. So I say put them where you want and have fun doing it!
Team Badger held recently held an event and did just that. We only put out 2, one of which was on the property and one was a drive-to. There was also a permanent cache placed to commemorate the event…something you may want to think about.
Good luck to you in your planning!

Uhmmmm….I’m all for camping out as long as I can flush the toilet, wash w/ hot running water, turn on the television for noise, and get that wakeup call from the front desk so I’m not late for pancakes. As for the Commander, well…

I’m so glad that someone has a puzzle that stumps YOU! I wonder if he’s a geocacher…maybe he can help w/ your N8MV puzzle!

Welcome to geocaching and to the WGA! You’ll have a great time and find that should you need or want assistance there is no shortage of people ready to jump up and help! There are also people ready to cache on a moments notice so go to the looking for someone to cache w/ section if you’re interested in hooking up w/ someone. Either reply to a message or post your own. The WGA is a great community of people to be a part of. And congrats on your engagement! Good luck in both ventures!

We actually ordered these books online a couple of months ago and have yet to receive them…I suppose I should check on the status.

I agree that hints are fine but sometime get in the way of the hunt. I just read the cache page and some of the logs. I was disappointed that someone logged the find so full of clues and hints that anyone coming after them would be able to walk right up to it. Without mentioning any names, I would like to request that this person re-thinks their log and edits it…you know who you are… …! Isn’t it enough that you found it? Why spoil it for everyone else?

There are LOTS of things that should be removed from caches! Good luck with these though…

This is a great park! I’ve done the caches in this park and loved them. A CITO event is always worthy of a trip, and the history here is a major bonus! Not to mention the views! Good luck to anyone available for this event.

in reply to: Travel bug question #1748586

In the past I’ve travelled w/ bugs logging them in and out of the caches I’ve visited along the way…posting photos when possible. Some have been in my possesion for a while, but I took them to local caches as well. I’ve done the whole emailing the owner thing and as previously stated, the owners haven’t really cared. The bugs were getting mileage and weren’t stuck in a trunk somewhere. There have been a couple that were lost in space for a bit, but I simply sent them somewhere wonderful in the end so the owners were VERY happy. Two went to Australia and back…that was a bug bonus!

Fun idea…kind of reminds me of the game that wzbt03 had going last year (Capture the Flag). You need to make sure that whatever you use to mark your bug will not be removable. It would be a bad thing if some unsuspecting geocacher picked it up thinking it were a normal bug and took it to some far away land! Good luck w/ this one…we’ll be watching for it.

That’s what Cachew did last year…right John? LOL! That’s how I found out about the discounted rate. I had already purchased 2 at regular rate and went in to get the third at discount…when the ranger found out about the previous purchases he refused to take my $10 for the third sticker. What a guy…that was at the New Glarus Event. And yes, we have a lot of buses.

YIKES!!! Okay, so I heard a bit about this one the car radio the other day, but hadn’t seen the story until now. Thanks to WISearchers for the link. NOW: YIKES! I’m not much of a cat fan but would never think to “hunt” them down. I mean, if we can hunt free roaming cats, does that mean we can hunt dogs next? Won’t that be a mess for all the little doggies in the woods come hunting season? And what of little Suzie’s bunny who escaped when the 3 year old little girl didn’t latch the cage properly? Is Suzie going to be crying tonight too? Doesn’t this just open up a whole lot of worm cans? Again I say, YIKES!!!
