    Congrats!

Didn’t you just hit 200 a month or two ago? I thought I was catching up…

I saw that little pool and was wondering what the heck something like that was doing here.

I concur, though, that this was probably the wrong time of year to do this cache as I couldn’t even see the ground with all the growth. As for the poison ivy, either I didn’t come across it or I’m immune as I was wearing shorts and sandals and didn’t itch.

At any rate, I’m glad that it was just me having a bad day and not a different problem that I was starting to wonder about…

The hints varied from none at all to not obvious to pinpointing the location exactly. I was even having trouble with the pinpoints.

I think it’s just live any other thing. You get into a slump, and even if you keep going, it just doesn’t get any better. You just need to know when to stop and say “enough” and wait for another day.

All I’ve got to say is…

    Happy Anniversary!

Dittos from The Cheeseheads as well! It’s nice to see a couple that do such a wonderful job of recognizing others’ accomplishments do something to get themselves recognized as well.

    Here’s to your next 400!

I’m not exactly a newcomer, but I’ll be hitting a bunch in the Zoo area tomorrow.

Hope to see a few hunters out there!

    Notebook
    Extra Zip-locks
    Extra pens and pencils
Towel (for drying out soggy cache containers)

Wow! Essentially a 51-part multicache! That’s gotta be a record!

At first, I thought that these were going to be scattered throughout the state, but I’m glad to see they are a little bit more concentrated in one area.

I know what I might be up to this weekend…

Hey, leave my Grammar outa this! She’s a nice old lady and my Grandpaw’ll get you if you say otherwise!

The Cheeseheads are all… well… a bunch of Cheeseheads! (Although aren’t we all?)

For my first find, I was the completely unoriginal krugdm. After peeking through the forums, I decided I needed something a little more colorful that has a couple connotations: From Wisconsin, Packer Fan.

Even though about 75% of my finds are solo, I came up with Team Cheesehead (now just The Cheeseheads) to use for when it’s more than just me or for events.

I’ve done 5, counting DC. WI, IL, PA, MD, and DC.

I’m heading out east again in July, and hopefully I can pick up a few more depending on how much time I have. If I’m lucky, I can add IN, OH, NJ, and NY to the list.

in reply to: When to retire a cache #1745449

I do agree that in some areas, there is a limited amount of space available for hiding caches. Also. some hiders may be hesitant to hide a cache in the same park where one already exists, even if there is plenty of space available.

When I hid my first cache, I was unaware that the someone was planning on hiding a cache in the same park. Once mine popped up, they ended up not hiding theirs. After I had archived that cache, they asked if I had plans to rehide a cache in the same park because they had one ready to go, but apparantly didn’t want to impede on my “territory”. I wasn’t going to rehide my cache, so they placed theirs. Personally, I would have had no problem with more caches, as that park was large enough to hide several.

With the recent increase in the number of new cachers, there will probably always be life in even the oldest caches, so I wouldn’t archive them unless the area is really starting to deteriorate or a cache goes unfound for months and you’ve got an idea for a nearby replacement.

There was a bear thread recently on the gc.com site.

I do like your first protocol. It reminds be of the old joke where the two hunters were being chased by a lion. One stops to take off his boots and put on track shoes. The second says “A lion runs at 40 mph! You won’t be able to outrun him in those!”

The first replies, “I don’t need to outrun the lion, I just need to outrun you!”

Anyone know where I could pick up some of those nifty Millitary Decon containers we used at the High Cliff Geo-campout? One of the Arny Navy surplus stores I checked didn’t have any since last year.

A lot of sites do this to prevent people from linking directly to their content. If you copy and paste the link directly into your address bar it will work.
