How about a category something like, the most Wisconsin finds by a non-Wisconsin resident? Can you think of any Minnesota primates that might qualify for this particular award? 😀
I know of some Illinois cachers who might give you a run for your money… better get crackin’ ! 😆

This is where I’m confused. You are a member of this site. It’s just that the title says “WGA Friend” instead of “WGA Member”. If we were to change the titles, what else would change except a few words? I fail to see why this is such a hot issue.
Is it the voting thing? I live in Wisconsin, but work and cache in Illinois. As a Wisconsin resident, I do not have the right to vote in Illinois elections, nor am I able to vote in GONIL elections. If issues come up that I’m concerned about, I can certainly make it known on the GONIL boards and hope to sway the board members to my side. I suppose if there were a political issue that affected me I could also contact the representative for the area where I work. But as a Wisconsin resident, that is where my voting rights are limited.
As a Minnesota resident, if you have issues with caching in Wisconsin, please bring them up here. As a board member, I would pay just as much attention to your opinions and concerns as I would to anyone else.
But the way I stand on the issue is that the WGA represents Wisconsin geocachers (vs. people that geocache in Wisconsin) and as such, I have no intention on supporting a change to that statute.
Of course, you fully have the right to find residents who share your opinion, encourage them to run for the board, and if they are elected, change the statute. As it stands with the current board however, while we’re certainly not going to stop discussions about it, unless someone somehow manages to come up with a brilliant argument to change anyone’s minds, it’s a dead issue.
I hope everything goes well and you’ll be back out on the trails next spring!
I guess having an excuse to stay inside during the Wisconsin winter isn’t the worst thing in the world…
You may just have to wait a week until you get your next PQ. Assuming you keep your streak up through the next week, it will self-correct when you upload next week’s PQ and you’ll be back on the list.
If not, drop me a note to let me know and I’ll look into it.
Do you use GSAK to manage your caches? If so, just allow it to be included in your PQs, but delete it from GSAK and be sure to select the “Also stop future imports from adding back in” checkbox. You’ll still get notifications, but it won’t take up a spot on your GPSr when you upload caches.
The code is

Obviously, replace the URL with the proper location.
If you store the image at photobucket.com or imageshack.us, (or probably other hosting sites) they will actually give you the proper HTML code that you can just copy and paste into your cache page.
I think by “touch up” the intent was to keep the logo generally the same, but perhaps update the font or turn the GPSr into something that doesn’t resemble an iPhone.
Sorry… For some reason, the third poll choice didn’t go through the first time. I deleted the poll and resubmitted it. If you had already voted, you can re-vote for whatever you selected the first time. 😳
I don’t think Letterbox hybrids ever went out of play.
They really aren’t considered multis, as there’s only the one container. Since any intermediate steps would only be landmarks and not containers, the 528′ guideline would not apply to those; the guideline would only apply to the final container as usual.
Do you have the latest firmware updates?
Adding my name to the congratulations list!
I have a section of the trail mapped out as a route that you could do a PQ on to get some of the caches.
The other thread is here.
It’s actually done this for a long time. It would be nice if they’d document some of these “easter eggs” somewhere…
The current Board had a long discussion regarding WGA membership requirements at the spring meeting, and the current bylaws reflect the views of the Board:
Article III: Membership
Membership in the WGA shall remain open to all interested persons who support the purposes detailed in Article II. An active member shall be defined as an individual at least sixteen (16) years of age who registers with the WGA annually and who is a resident of the state of Wisconsin as defined by Section 29.001 (69) of the Wisconsin State Statutes. While anyone is able to join the WGA as a “WGA Friend,” by limiting full membership to residents, it makes it easier to present to other organizations (e.g. the WDNR) who we are representing. Obviously, there are quite a few cachers from the border areas (I’m looking at you, Cinemaboxers 😉 ) who do a lot of caching in Wisconsin, but how do you make the cutoff as to who is a “frequent cacher?”
Personally, I cache quite a bit in Illinois, and I’m a member of GONIL, although with the same status as a WGA Friend is here. I’m interested in what goes on, caching-wise, down south and will state my opinions in their forums when necessary, but as far as voting or being on their board, I’ll leave that to the residents of NE Illinois.
