Anyone else play World of Goo yet? Excellent game… Worth the points and space it takes up.

I have emailed their service dept. We’ll see where that goes.
My question to them was in 2 parts. 1. Can I manually add a destination/POI using coordinates. Their manual shows that it allows to add a destination from an address or a pre-loaded POI (restaraunts, hotels, etc.) If I can manually add using coordinates there is hope for this unit. 2. Any chance I can download those destinations/POI’s using the USB connection that it has or place them on the SD card.
The unit does have an SD card that the “map” is delivered on. It also has a Preloaded POI database (which is probably a bit outdated) and I presume thats on the SD card as well.
The thing about this unit is, it has a very big screen for the price and it has Text to speech. At the $110ish price point (black friday sale plus 15% off on top of that) those are 2 pretty big pluses that I am finding it hard not to at least give it a shot. I would have to spend well close to $200 for a comparable garmin nuvi unit or start hacking away features to get one at a lower price point. If I wasn’t a geocacher, it would be a no-brainer to keep this unit as a way to navigate around and not get lost.
The other thing is, when you get a gift and that gift was purchased with a credit card, you don’t get much cash if you take it back to the store with the original receipt 😮 and if you use a gift receipt you get store credit. A kohl’s store credit doesn’t get me a different unit and a debit on the purchaser’s credit card doesn’t either.
So I still haven’t cracked open the packaging yet on this christmas present….
Is that a good deal?
I’ve always had good luck with pasting in HTML into my GC.com profile page. Not sure where the person who says that it doesn’t work get’s their information from.
However, I noticed that my profile page is currently not displaying correctly and it is HTML created by the CaceStats program… hmm… wonder what happened. Never had a problem with the html that program created before and using it on my profile page.
The only thing I can think of is I was out there messing around with my profile page on the waymarking site and had to edit my profile to copy and paste the HTML. Perhaps I monkeyed it up 🙂
Oh well, it’s long past due to pull a new set of stats anyway.
Btw, I posted a link in the other new HTML thread that shows you what HTML tags are allowed on the Geocaching.com application and which tags are not allowed. You may find that you have issues with certain tags if you are allowing Micro$oft Word to write your HTML for you…
FYI –
The following post on the GC.com forum from a Groundspeak employee explains which HTML tags are accepted by their application for use on cache pages:
http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?s=&showtopic=191126&view=findpost&p=3570735
They will filter out certain HTML when posting a new cache page and you will find it very annoying.
Also, I have seen many issues over time with using the
and
tags in conjunction with each other. You might be best served to stick with
only and not usetags in your writeups.
One other hint. If you are submitting a new cache page for the first time, I have had a much better result if you first submit the cache page with a simple description. Check that it has html but write something like:
This is my cache description
Will add more later
Then after you have created the new submission (making sure to uncheck the Cache active checkbox) go back in and edit the listing and paste in your full cache description HTML. For some reason, the initial submission page seems to “mess with” your HTML more. For one, it turns “line feeds” i.e. when you hit enter in your text into a
when you did not code a
tag. This can be extremely annoying when it adds a
in the middle of an imgsrc which then breaks the image. The edit listing function seems to leave your coding the way you want it.Keep in mind that Groundspeak is always changing their site functionality and your results may vary from release to release. Typically, you will not have issues with already submitted pages until you go and edit it or go to create a new cache and then you might find you have a problem now with HTML you have been using all along. For instance, they stop supporting a certian tag that you were using. There have been many threads in the GC.com forums around this after each new update.
Just some things I have seen. Your results may vary.

marc started it
I spent a bunch of hours googling myself and didn’t come up with much. I think I am better sticking with a known brand…
The other thing that bothers me is the website for the company that makes it is EXTREMELY slow. That is not reassuring…
41 views of my post and no responses… I take it I should return it and just get a Garmin 🙂

i think they’re on the top secret WGA forum boards that you can’t get to unless you are marc.
The other thing is, we have ample time to place the new parmament caches well in advance of the event so that it is not viewed as “the WGA came to town and left a bunch of trash”. Yeah, the event attendees might not get shots at a lot of new FTF honors but there will be a bunch of new and interesting hides. So for those who have visited the area before, something new to do and for those who have not, a mix of older caches and newer ones.
If permission is granted, then place away….
Oh, and that area is in need of more caches anyway. Take a look on the gc.com map once and you will see that there is not much reason for fox valley cachers to head around to the north-east and east side of Lake Winnebago (other than going all the way to Manitowoc). It would be cool if we could utilize an event like this to springboard a bunch of new permanent caches for everyone to hunt in that area (even those who don’t get to attend the event when it happens!)
