Here is a thread with a recent response from Groundspeak that a fix has been found but will not be implemented until “next week”.

There are many established threads on the GC Website forum related to this newly created issue (a recent update caused the issues…) Groundspeak appears to be working on it last i checked.

I kinda like how the new ones are formatted though with the picture of the cemetery and the information that is included on the pages… Nice job.

Doesn’t look like a “slap in the face” to me at all. I’m sure marc will get out and find these new one’s just like any other new cemetery caches. I took the “official” thing to just mean that he is in cohorts with those southern folks.

Keep on placing them and they will come. Looks like these kind of caches are here to stay 🙂

Why not hold a CITO event and then log it? 🙂

I’ve logged 370 in that time

of course, those visiting family gravesites must be given that time they deserve. (personally, I don’t know if I have ever run into any mourners in the cemetaries I have visited, just other cachers, but most have been rural sites)

I have several times… Actually just about every cemetery I have visited to find a cache had family visiting. I guess I stay too close to civilization 😛

In regards to gotta run’s statement, I am not singling anyone out or pointing any fingers at any cache owners except maybe marc, he’s fun to pick on. 😆

Some excellent replies!! The point of my post was to get everyone thinking and talking about the subject and revisit something that was said in the past. As I stated, I was not stating my viewpoint on the subject.

    Again excellent posts everyone!!

It seems that it still remains a subject of respect and for the most part geocachers are a very respectful bunch when it comes to their surroundings and how they interact with those surroundings. Of course you always know what they say about those bad apples…

I know I said I wasn’t going to debate cemetery caches but since many have mentioned it I will chime in on that as well.

My main point to share would be to remember that not everyone thinks cemeteries are playgrounds and most visitors are there for a much different reason than you are. Not everyone agrees with placing geocaches in cemeteries so perhaps “trying to place one in every cemetery in a county” doesn’t necessarily do the sport much justice.

The “trend” of requiring pictures and posting pictures was primarily what this post was about and based on responses so far, most think this is an acceptable practice.

Gotta love a great polite online discussion.
    😀 😀

I’ll let ABby’sFamily take care of you 🙂

Just be careful of the spellchecker and grammar checker in word… if you look at my “Thanks” cache you can see what I mean… there are squiggly lines in that image but I never bothered to fix it 🙂

Did you think about preparing it in word using the correct font and screen capturing and then just having the cache page be a graphic or series of graphics? that way the cacher would experience it the way you intended…

    Just a thought.

I have seen this “bug” much more in the past. After one of the more recent GC.com updates I didn’t see it at all for awhile. I have not seen it at all using Google Chrome. Wonder if it’s a browser specific issue?? The most common place I’ve seen it in the past is the LCG bookmark lists and browsing through them using Internet Explorer.
I too saw better luck with expanding the Bookmark list to a larger number of caches.

It’s just one of those things. If you follow the Release notes each time on the GC forums and all of the ensuing responses and responses to those responses you will see where their focus is for new releases. This bug is probably on page 2,754 of their list.

Now if only I had an I-phone….

Mathman is right.. no Garmin. I have a Magellan Explorist. Is it ok if I still post to the forums or do I have to withdraw my WGA membership?

Naw, I just heard the dues were more.

Well this was a great way to find out I’m no longer a premium member

I’m sure you can easily pay them again and become a premium member very easily. They’ve streamlined the income generating process significantly in release website updates.

    😉

They badgered me with many emails and I pulled the plug and paid again before mine expired.
