  • national GC forums there is now an Earthcache Section for your reading pleasure..

ahh, you did not correctly represent EarthCache in your advertising message. I’m going to have to ask you to correct that before Friday.

now wear the shirt to cache in where I expect to get dirty!

so what your sayin’ is thanks for the dirty shirt? 8)

    sorry, couldn’t help myself.

The “thanks” cache is what I would like to call a “simple pleasure” cache. If you like this type of easy puzzle, you should also look at my sweetest hide and richmond rockets. They all fit into the “puzzles that are easy with all the rules in front of you” category. All 3 of these mentioned are solveable with very little “work” on the cacher part but you might learn something. “Thanks” without the puzzle would be a boring dead end cache hide. Throw in the puzzle and content and it becomes just a bit more. Build a nice big sign nearby that fits in with the theme and you got a winner. 😀 (I didn’t really build the sign…)

I have a hard time recommending my own caches to others because I tend to hide the “park and ride” type caches and then on the other end the puzzle caches. I guess that’s my niche. Also, I don’t ever get to experience my own caches as a finder from the outside so it’s hard to say if they are recommendable or not… I think reading the logs on my caches is more fun than caching nowadays.

    maybe I’m shopping

    good point!

I actually don’t mind caches that try to make us see where we are and learn (actually these are the best kind) but on the flip side, I do beleive it’s not respectful for geocachers to be strolling up and down cemeteries looking for people just to play a “game”. I’ve mentioned this to marc and others in the past. That’s why I love the fact that he’s added REAL coords to the older “multi” one’s.

This new twist on the WSQ caching game is interesting. I don’t know if I will ever do all of them but I will probably snap a picture by my brother for the “family plots” one at some point.

I think a good “guideline” would be that any disrespect of the reviewers during the review process will result in immediate archiving/deletion of the cache in question.

    I agree 1000%

And I would further add that I still have some camo duct tape in my bag….

Since I’m from appleton I will speak up and help out a fellow cacher… (note for clarification: these are NOT all in Appleton, but as many cachers from outside the Appleton area think all of the cities and towns in the Valley are “Appleton”, I have included some that are in surrounding communities as well 🙂

GC1F8MF – Chronicles | You Turn Me On – If I had my choice on one “night cache” in appleton, it would be this one. I might be a bit biased but you will not be let down by the recommendation.

GC1C9JB – PUC | I’ll Come Bouncing Back is much fun. and while you’re in the park… GC1CT2N PUC | Grubby Little Fingers. There’s one more at the front of this park, one more at the back of this park and another puzzle there too but I can’t tell you which one 😉

If you’re headed downtown to do Metamorphosis & the Oracle you might want to stop and try:
GC15QC3 – Flags of Our Fathers | Land, Sea & Sky
GC1693Q – Pace Yourself, Man! – I just recently did this one with my son and we had a blast.

GCPDBP – My Best Friend…Where is she? – If you have not done this classic, it will bring a smile when you find it.

    GC10NZZ – Ahoy, I Zeeland

GC1ACTZ – Thanks! – If you want an easy puzzle to cross off the list, I would have to say this is one of the easiest. Oh and it’s mine..

GC15QPG – Flags of Our Fathers | Isle of Valor – Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t seen this yet. Oh and there’s another cache on the “Isle” that someone I know placed…

GCVDYE – Gilligan’s Island – My son’s favorite cache but you might have an anti-climactic experience with it being so dry lately. There are other notables in walking distance of this one as well.

    GC16T5Z – And On The First Day…

GCWT2K – Dead End: Hog Heaven – After you find it, check out the picture in my log and laugh.

And you can’t go wrong finding any of the “Trail of the Serpent” series caches by Sloughfoot.

I’ll stay north of Neenah and end my list there…

Yeah, there’s a bunch of easy park and finds but there’s also a ton of diversity as well.

    Hope this helps!

we have one that made its way overseas to Germany, and it is moved and discovered much more frequently than any others we have.

I would agree with this based on my family’s experience with travel bugs as well. They move more overseas and the other thing is, because countries are so close together (physically) the bugs tend to visit many countries and the logs tend to be in many different languages. For our kids, they actually enjoy this more than bugs moving around here in the US.

in reply to: Only Coordinates #1895496

There are many who have posted when it was listed as a 1 and not handicapped accessible… won’t start naming names but I’ve seen it a lot on my first caches as well as many others out there.

Personally, I would like to see these “only coordinates” listed as accurate terrain and difficulty, but nothing else. It’s still “only coordinates” with no other text and no attributes to help.

Where’d I put that duct tape?

in reply to: Smile! RSplash40 find #900! #1895699

    Congrats Mike!

in reply to: Only Coordinates #1895493

One Team made use of children, to find some of them. I told them that’s a no-no!

Doesn’t say that in the listings…. Hahahaha

Someday I’ll return with all my kids and all their friends to find them all. And we might re-hide them like they were…

thanks much for the demo link… WOW, lot’s more features talked about. Many gems in this Browser… The download functionality, incognito window, and the creating an application shortcut with a no-frill interface are all sweet.

… dropping things out of their backpacks, forgetting their milk money, leaving the computer crashed and someone let the dog (substitute cat if you are a cat person) out the back door and we can’t find him anywhere.

There, just thought I would tack on a few more things to make it more realistic.

in reply to: google chrome #1895414

posting this using Chrome.. definitely a fast browser, at least on my POC desktop computer….

Kinda flakey while filling in this post box… we’ll see how it favors in comparisons at work as well.
