do we have any spoiler concerns? (for the tiny bit of caching that we did????) We have some photos that I would consider submitting, but don’t want to “spoil” any future finds…
The owner of any such cache should be consulted before submitting/posting spoiler pictures.
Being the owner of 3 caches in the park for the event I only ask that you not post a picture of the “blue man”. If you have a great picture of kids finding the “bug motel” please by all means submit them. Even if they show the container, I’m ok with that.
Sorta related but not really…
I placed a new cache at Hartman Creek for the campout called KFC – Bug Motel. It was not designed to be a “TB Motel”. Actually it is really a Bug Motel. Swag items were all bugs to follow the theme of the container.
I laughed when one of the logs came across that it was devoid of any travel bugs.
Now I get to watch and see how many others complain that it is lacking in travel bugs and if anyone stocks it with travel bugs.
Now back to your regularly scheduled discussion…
Submit your best event photos to: photos(at)wi(dash)geocaching(dot)com
My new caches are published and added to the bookmarklist.
You don’t have to go far. I saw lots of big bass in the lake by the shelter in very shallow water. By the dam looks good too. And also on the north side in the real shallow were big bass too. This was all seen today.
Weather was good in the park today even though the forecast said otherwise. You never do know.
The list is complete except for the 3 caches I placed today. I will bring a gpx of them and printouts as long as they get approved in time.
It’s a campout tradition. 😉
We will be stationed in a single area and measurements done at that area. So if people want to spread out and fish elsewhere they need to get themselves to the “registration station” to get their lunker measured.
As for where we will be stationed, we’ll keep that mystery until Saturday. 😉
Fish with whatever you want to fish with. We’re providing bait for those who need it or don’t want to have to deal with procuring and packing bait. When you register you’ll indicate if you need bait.
Worms work everywhere I’ve ever fished in Wisconsin.
This is indeed for fun. If it goes the negative route of prior caching event “competitions” expect this to be the last time a fishing derby takes place at a campout. Please keep this activity fun. There are many pretty neat prizes but they’re not worth the price of having fun.

Are we limiting the derby to just one of the lakes, or are all the areas in the park fair game? no water transport here, so we will have to attack on foot or pier.
No location parameters have been set. You’re free to fish where you’d like in the park. I’m sure most participants will be on shore.
Updated Night Cache List:
Team Black Cat – 3 or 4

wiskey33 – 1
cheeto – 2
carriejason – 2I’m probably going to only do 2. Running out of time and I’ve had unlucky shopping trips.. so much to do, so little time.
