lazy code I’ve written in the past

i beleive this may be the key to what’s been happening as I also had a bulletted list on one of my newer one’s show up strange and it was due to an interesting use of style which no longer worked right.

i find myself writing lazy as well just to “get the job done” and I have enjoyed seeing how the site functionality changes the html when you submit the page. some pretty cool system functionality is built into the gc.com listing engine… however, it wreks havoc when they make changes!

the only issue I’ve seen is that on a few of my pages the link to geochecker got jumbled when it was fine before. it was not all of mine but it was a handful. I went in and modified them to put them back and they have been fine since. I was scouring the national forums earlier today and there are release notes from 4/18 so they did do some updating to the functionality recently.

as for using html in my postings, I typically take a similar prior cache I have made and just copy the entire page worth of html and then modify it to suite the new page. I am sure your issue is website related though and not with editing the html as I have heard and read about others having issues since the recent update as well.

that was an interesting observation I made as well when I started visited these out of the way country cemeteries. how old some are and how un-cared for they are. makes we want to be buried “in town”.

I beleive the wording wiskid used on a recent one of mine (Winter Friendly) that was originally going to require listing another cache (that was marked available in winter) was that new caches could no longer require publishing another cache as a requirement for logging that cache.

I would guess that they would not have any issues with “hinting” that cachers can place a new cache as long as you don’t require it.

What’s interesting about this new “rule” is the reason I was told it was inacted differs from what is discussed here and in other forum posts. I was told it was to limit the number of new “lame” caches that were just thrown out there with no regard to quality at all just to log a cache but here (http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=6765) we see that it was added because folks were chaining together the log a cache requirement causes an excessive out of control situation.

I personally agree with the rule change for both of the reasons above

Congrats to a job well done on the Appleton CITO Event.

Please check out the cache page to see pictures and read logs from the cleanup: GC19PTZ

It was a lot of work but also a lot of fun. If you have a chance to get to an event, try to. You will not regret it!

I recently bought the vista HCX which has the “high sensitivity” and I thought it would be a big improvement over the magellan unit I was using and I was dissapointed. not sure on the comparison to the other garmin units, but not nearly as “high sensitive” as I guess I was expecting.

And I have come to learn that I am not too fond of the electronic compass it uses. But I love the form factor (size, button placement) of the unit which is mostly why I chose it.

    I doubt it.

Started with a magellan that I got as a b’day present. Just bought myself the Garmin Etrex Vista HCX for Christmas and still getting used to it but it sure beats putting in the coordinates manually!

    manuals are highly overrated…
