this is not only relevant to caching but also to life in general…

or put another way, it’s all about the journey not necessarily the destination.

congrats on your excellent journey to 1,000 destinations!

I think it takes much more than I have to find 100 of ANY type of cache in one day!! I am amazed that teams churn out this many finds in a single day let alone back to back 100 find days! Congrats and I hope you enjoyed your tour of “our neck of the woods” (if you saw any woods…)

It’s great to see all you lonely cache hunters out there in Adams County. Was meaning to do some spring cache checks on mine and you all saved me a trip 🙂 I am glad they all survived their lonley spells and the “winter of 08”. Here’s to hoping for dry weather!

    I’m Eco Friendly

as long as you pronounce it eeco (long e) and not echo. people who say echo friendly should be slapped upside the head. it comes from the word ecology.

i couldn’t even get to a sliver in time in summer.
you are either brave or totally nuts

if you don’t know s|s well, take a look sometime at a 5-terrain cache called cram island in Kimberly, WI and the logs for the day s|s found that cache…. yeah he’s nuts.

When I read the title of this posting… I thought, hey so am I but then I realized you were trying to find a cache page not a geocache.

in reply to: Do you want to dance? #1887736

I think it is doing the calibration dance.

And the unit says.. “a little too fast”

    Is it Johnny Depp?

in reply to: Garmin Question #1887669

I had the same problem until I read the manual.

I missed the manual… it was probably one of those important things that came in the box that I whipped open and threw aside…. Maybe I should go back and read it some day.

Seriously guys, thanks for the heads up on calibrating the unit and to do it after changing the batteries and that I don’t have to dance if I don’t want to.

For the record, I am “into” dancing as much as I am reading instructions and manuals.

And keep in mind that there are MANY ways you can volunteer and help out. Even if you are not comfortable with cleaning up trash there are other ways you can assist. Holding the bags open, helping with registration, donating food, helping serve food, helping with prize drawings, helping keep family members entertained 🙂 etc.

Attending a CITO event is a great way to give back to the communities we all live, work, and especially geocache in.

This is also a great way to represent the sport and the WGA organization.

If you are near any of these cities on 4/19:
    – Stevens Point
    – Appleton
    – Waukesha

    Or these cities on 4/26:
    – Greenbay

(If I missed any dates/cities, please post a followup)

Please consider donating a few hours of your day to helping out. You will feel good about helping out, I gaurantee it!

Plus you get a smiley 🙂

Just to correct the record, it’s Bob’s Big Bulletin Board O’ Caches

yeah, we would not want people thinking bob was “Big” because he’s trying that new fangled weight watcher thingie with “the wife”.

I still think this would make a great new cache theme….

in reply to: Garmin Question #1887662

Hey but I liked the calibration dance with the little encouraging note that says “just right”… It’s like a little self help unit.

    Oh nevermind…

It happens on dead end road caches too.

Officer, we think there’s more drug dealing down on the end of our road…. I went down there and there’s this plastic container magnetted to the back of that sign and it has a smiley face on it. I was afraid to open it. Then my fingerprints would be on it… and worse, it might be a bomb. And those people that show up are a pretty scarey looking crew…. Here are a few of their license plate numbers.

    Okay, that was fun.

You know along these lines, my wife told me that she called the police the other day because someone was driving around in a black BMW with one of those “ex husband in trunk” kind of prank body parts sticking out of the trunk and my wife could not tell if it was fake or real!! And it just did not look “right” for this prank to be pulled on this particular type of vehicle.. The police took her call VERY seriously….

Point of view can be very interesting!

“We Live in a Box Under a Tree in Minnesota Club”

    I here it’s a simple club to join…

I continue to be amazed and educated with this string and contest. Personally, I like the idea of moving away from the current logo rather than “spiffying” up the current logo. You (we) have this opportunity for change. Why not make it what you want rather than settling for a little cleanup? Other’s have noted in other strings regarding the costs for an organization to change their logo. Why incur the costs to just “cleanup” a logo?

I like change. I am a proponent of change and change management within the workplace and I see this opportunity as a moment to make changes. There are enough requests for a change and there seems to be much interest in the result based on all the feedback in this thread. To me those things call out for something new. Not just a bit of cleanup.

That’s where s|s’s original submission starts to rise to the top. Other than the lettering and coloring of the lettering it really does stand out as a submission that shifts the way we view the logo and how it represents the organization.

Further we need to start thinking about those things that should change about the current logo. What does it not accomplish? How well does it represent the organization? Should the new logo attempt to be “timeless”? Oh and all those art vector scaling things as well.

Keep up the great work you masters of art. By the sounds of it we have a handful of very talented members that can really turn some of these ideas into a great new logo.
