  • I actually helped another cacher do this one already… I mentioned it to Sagasu awhile back “jibbing” him that I had found a “cache” in appleton that he had not yet.

The Waypoint to be found here is probably a bit buried (if I remember correctly) but not completely unfindable…

There’s a puzzle in the WP in appleton that also needs to be solved and it only took me like an hour of thinking about it to solve it.

The Appleton CITO event will be Saturday April 19th in Jones Park and surrounding entrance/exit areas and if time permits some of the North Island Trail system as well.

As with last year, we will begin with a registration at 9am and work will begin around 10am.

Trash bags will be provided by the Appleton Park & Rec and restrooms will be unlocked for our group.

    Other details to follow.

I will publish the event as soon as I have parking lot coordinates and a few other minor details worked out. That should be within the next day or two.

that looks like a great improvement to the rules.. having 2 cachers confirm on revisits in the same month seemed kind of pointless and to me appeared to be more of a “padding of points” than dnf’ing and then logging a find or a replacement later.

great job on keeping it “real” 🙂 as the dawg would say.

I was under the impression by your first post that they were all happening the same day/weekend… (remember I am new here)

    now it makes more sense!

I should have a date/time/location to report to you soon.

For the Appleton one, I was thinking 4/19 as the CITO weekend is marked as 4/19 – 4/20. I would not be able to hold an event on a Friday unless it’s after 5:30pm. And the turnout would probably be best on a Saturday rather than any other day, no?

I will work at pinpointing location and date/time this week.

They might have meant 500 “oldest” as in haven’t been found in the longest amount of time. Not oldest as in placed the earliest. A better word could be “lonliest”

At least that is how I interpreted the comment…

This would qualify a cache as being “lonely” and allow you to keep the returned list to 500 or whatever specific number you choose.

After a few months of playing I’m wondering if Sagasu will realize that he might be better off going out and buying his own prizes and start looking for only new caches – LOL

You don’t know Sagasu (ahem FTF dave) very well do you? He finds all the new one’s around these parts too. He’s an animal.

And it’s certainly not about the prizes for him… He just wants something to chase and get his “blood going”. And he loves doing cache maintenance (have you seen any of his???) so we all get the benefits of his maintenance skills. There are some that are offended when he offers to replace their cache exactly as it was. I on the other hand would not be.

Now what was the topic again? Oh yeah, lonelies… I think you should make the list however you want. Perhaps some day you could throw together a list for a month that is not in fact lonely but fits some other characteristic but still have “the game” applied to it… like for instance, make a list of all puzzle caches with a difficulty rating greater than 3. Yeah that would be fun… (nevermind, please disregard that)

Saw it starting when we left the event in Depere and saw it almost totally eclipsed when we got home. Took some neat pictures. What a great clear night for looking at the night sky!

I have put in a message with the Appleton Park and Rec Dept noting that CITO Weekend is April 19th – 20th and that I am interested in planning and hosting a 2nd annual Park/Trail cleanup CITO event in Appleton that weekend.

I will be contacting Hemi to get more details from last year’s event seeing as I was yet a muggle at that time 🙂

I will do all of the coordination with the Park Dept on the cleanup project but would like some help planning the event and other activities. (Two heads is better than one, especially when one of them is named cheeto) I am taking applications for a co-pilot to help run this so if anyone in the Appleton area is interested in helping out, please let me know! The application form is a simple response to this or a PM/email will do as well. (Interview should only last 4 hours….)

I will keep everyone posted as I learn more from the Park Dept and plans get underway.

I’m interested. I am not fully aware of what goes into planning and holding a CITO event. (i’m still relatively new at some of this…) so if I could work with someone or get some guidance that would be great. Appleton area would work well for me as that’s where I live and I think there might be some good candidate areas in Appleton to choose from.

If you want to contact me directly, go ahead. Just let me know what it takes. I have some free time to offer!

WOW is that a wonderful story! It sounds like she is turning out to be a great little person. Doesn’t it make you feel so proud when they do things like this? You did well 🙂

I hope everything goes okay. My family definitely knows what it’s like. Someday we can swap stories…
