There will be registration on our website for reserving a spot in the group camp site which the WGA reserves. Typically the group site is for tent campers only.

If you want to camp with a camper or separate from the group site than you can reserve your own camp site separately on the dnr website.

It works this way for every WGA campout.

Watch for more as the event details are worked out by the event committee and BOD.

Okay, wasn’t buggy just user error combined with no clear direction on what I was supposed to do. Had to click the drop down on status to change from draft to active.

I registered (no verification step…) and uploaded a handful of caches and completed the form. Then they all showed that the form hadn’t been completed. Seems buggy… Still not sure if they are listed. Don’t show up on the map.

I do a lot of my reading on the WGA site in low light conditions and the white just plain sucks. The green main menu with black lettering is very hard to read in my opinion. White letters on the buttons on top are also very hard to read.

Thanks to you and Alex for giving your schooled, expert opinions and honest feedback of the new theme.

    The white’s always been there.

Here’s my opinion for what it’s worth.

The general public user that comes here for the first time see’s a much more pleasant front page than before with pictures and better news content. A huge improvement IMHO.

Personally, I’d rather see the WGA’s money go towards CITO’s and public education than paying a designer to overhaul the website. We have a wonderful volunteer webmaster who was willing to give sprucing up our current site a try (in his spare time for no pay). I think he accomplished that and is still working to make it better.

I’m not a designer. I’m not artistic. The site looks better to me.

Now back to earning a living…

Have you ever had a gc guideline not enforced as a rule?

I have appealed and “won”. I have appealed and “lost” (to a loosely interpreted guideline). I have read about several other applications of the guidelines over the years that led me to my observation. I would rather not re-live those things here. This is one of many reasons why I am not interested in publishing new caches anymore. You’re other thread starter really hits the nail on the head for me.

The wording of the guidelines leaves many things open for interpretation. Take this thread as an example. “executable” seems to be open for interpretation.

They are called guidelines not rules.

It is always up for interpretation. Nothing is set in stone (well proximity seems pretty close). Some things are not documented. And everything can be appealed. Oh and all of this can change without notice. Does that some it up? (Been cynical these past few days it seems.)

Again, another observation and not even close to resembling an official opinion.

Back on topic… it’s unfortunate to lose another creative “type” of puzzle cache due to guidelines. It sounds like a neat idea for a puzzle and the found it logs all sound pretty positive to the puzzle.

I have firefox (3.6.12) and it displays a search page for me when I visit. There’s a log a cache button. And a geocaching guide button. No time to explore this morning..

Seems “rules” are fluid. They come and go.

What we couldn’t do before we can now. What you could do then you can’t now.

Based on his earlier note it looks like you can’t link to a site that utilizes flash technology. I’m guessing the Ipad/Iphone/Ipod inability to run flash sites might have a bit to do with this new rule.

So they (GS) allow chirp caches and whereigo where you have to use a particular GPS or handheld device but they don’t allow puzzle caches that require visiting a site that uses flash that 99% of all actual computers can display?

These are my observations and not the opinion of the WGA or any Groundspeak volunteer.

I would say the spirit of the rule would be that finding it on the 1yr anniversary date since the last find should qualify for the bonus. It’s all a game right?

Menasha with Road Runner and I have no issues, Appleton with Road Runner at my mothers house and no issues. Its not ISP side its something else.

Still could be related to the ISP. It’s not just about where you are located. What I learned about services like time warner is 2 customers living next to each other can have completely different experiences with services. It seems like each technician can do things differently. Than within that you can set things up differently depending if your using your own WiFi setup, security software, etc.

If you can easily navigate many websites but cannot access a specific site, it sounds like an internet access issue or an issue with that site. Seeing as we have many members who can access the site, it doesn’t seem to be a site/server issue in this case.

Outside of calling your ISP for some help…
If your using wifi, try plugging directly into the cable modem with ethernet to eliminate a Wifi/router issue. If that still doesn’t work, try a different browser. Still no go. Got a different PC? Or can you take your PC somewhere else? Work to either prove it’s your PC or your internet service/access. Gotta be one or the other really.
