The only thing I worry about, is that in a cache rescue, they remove it and I don’t see any requirement to return to placer. I would personally like to get a container back.
Can this be a requirement for the rescue? Or maybe I missed the requirement to return to owner.
That sure is a lot too ask of someone doing your maintenance for you. You could ask I guess.
As a cache owner if I am going to create a rescue mission to pickup an archived cache for me, you get the container for your efforts. Done this a couple times in the past.
Otherwise, I’ll get it myself if I want the container.
I’m going to create a new one today in PA that is not near a cache (geocaching.com), munzee, or a waymark. I checked. There looks to be a foursquare check-in there though 😉
I agree, it’s just another way to list a waymark for the most part. If they had verification capabilities and true “ownership it would be more like the virtuals of old.
I do “watch” the one’s I create but it is more “work” as you have to visit the page.
I’m not as critical of stuff like this as others here. It’s just another way to explore our surroundings.
Even though they are not in your count, they are a count of doing something nonetheless that shows by each of your logs and on your profile page.
I did a challenge today in PA. Within Hazleton there is a single geocaching challenge.
It’s visit the walmart and take your picture.
What I found interesting was there’s a mcdonalds inside their walmart. Hadn’t seen that pairing before.
Tomorrow I’m going to create a challenge here in PA. Something a bit more fun 🙂

Yes, but will it make my genitals bigger…?

Heh, heh. But really, the life of a troll must be fascinating. I want to meet the goobers that bite on these ridiculous offers.
Apparently 1/2 the people I know would, because these are the same people that forward me the “Send this to 8, 10, 12 people and …” emails expecting something great to happen. 🙄
+1
Wondering how much “data purification” will set me back…
I started in May of 2007, right after my Birthday. Got a GPS and a newspaper clipping about geocaching for my birthday from my mother-in-law.
Hopped on a plane to Atlanta the next day for a business trip and found my first caches there!
My wife will never forgive her. 😉

Looks like I’m going to bring a tent and hopefully get a site for just Saturday night.
I was driving to LaCrosse for training for work. It was a very foggy start to the day when I left. I remember I rented a car and they upgraded me to an SUV “for free”. I only heard bits and pieces on the radio on my drive about a plane crash in New York but that was all I heard. Then when I arrived I was told the class was cancelled because it was being held on the top floor of the US Bank building and US Bank buildings across the US closed.
So I went across the street to the hotel I was booked at and sat in the lobby with many others and watched the news all day. They had put extra tv’s in the lobby so everyone could watch the news. I checked into the hotel anyway and watched the news the whole evening and the next morning in my room and could not believe what had happened. Then drove back home the next day.
