Primer Gray 1980 (or was 81 or 82…) Chevy Citation 4-door with bright green neon windshield wipers and 6×9’s in the back. It had a push button stereo tuner for the presets. Best 300 bucks I ever spent.

Drove it all through high school. Then I bought a Camaro. Then a Dodge Daytona, can’t remember the year. Then a 1979 Cutlass. Then a lincoln Mark something. Then something else that looked like a boat. Then a grandpa looking car which I totaled geocaching. Then my current vehicle a 1998 Tahoe.

Always had a taste for the finer side of automobiles 😉

You could say I’ve always had a “clunker” and that will probably never change..

On the flip side my wife has owned not 1, not 2, but 3 new vehicles in her lifetime.

If I remember, and if I have time, I’ll change all the cache placement dates to the 14th on Friday morning. Unfortunately, it won’t let me pre-date them right now.

Thanks pharmgirl! Your work in this event is GREATLY appreciated. Can’t wait for the event.

Also a GREAT BIG THANK YOU for the clear and concise instructions and event cache page listings. You guys do a great job!!

This is how mine works so I am not sure if yours is the same but here is what I do.

When you are on your compass screen, press the menu button and it should list “calibrate compass.” Then, you will have to spin in a circle to recalibrate. Okay everyone out there laughing, 😆 Jeremy already told me I could spin the GPS IN MY HAND and not my whole body, but I still do it that way even if I look like a goof!!! 😳 That should recalibrate it for you, you just might look a little silly like me – 😯

I still spin in circles no matter what someone else thinks. It’s much more fun. 😀

FYI – Wouldn’t trust the numbers though. Earth cache type numbers are wrong for one cacher I clicked on. Majorly off.

custom Whereigo programs that you have to purchase

Yeah but THEY (Groundspeak) make money off Whereigo not someone else.

    Boy Scouts are non-profit, no?

I say it’s about time the Boy Scouts recognize Geocaching. It’s been a badge/accomplishment in Girl Scouts for how long??

There’s no reason they should not pursue some caches on their own properties that could be incorporated into an achievement system. To really teach about the activity they should be encouraged to list the caches on geocaching.com but as was mentioned prior they certainly do not “have to”.

I’d be willing to help out if anyone wants help once they “get the ball rolling”.

If the compass on your GPS unit is electronic, you have to calibrate it every time you change the batteries. I also found that there is a bit of a learning curve with an electronic compass when I switched from one GPS to another. It’s really about getting experience finding caches with a particular unit and compass.

There are lots of tips and tricks you can learn from other geocachers by spending some time with them and playing around with all the gadgets and programs out there.

As the others mention, a great opportunity to do so is at an event.

Jeremy – my family can help with the item: Beginning Geocaching Workshop, Take Beginners To Caches In Park on Saturday morning.

I can’t guarantee that we can “be there by 6 to help setup” but we will be there to help out with the hands on portion of the workshop if you will forgive our “tardiness” 🙂

    Thanks for volunteering Shane.

Those that want to help with the workshop should to be near the bandstand area at Regner Park (where the WGA informational table will be set up) around 9:30am. We’ll organize groups and take the new geocachers out as soon as the “classroom” part of the training is over, which will be somewhere between 9:30 and 10.

Got it. Thanks for the heads up.
