to everyone who commented here after clearly seeing this was our cache…

Gotta run clearly addressed those who responded, not the OP. Specifically marc’s response.

Ripping into someone with 10 posts and 3 months experience??? Seriously? TOTALLY uncalled for.

Have you even read this thread? No one has “ripped” into the OP which is who I assume you are referring to.

in reply to: Time Warner Cable #1911260

We had nothing but trouble with Time Warner Cable. Problems with service led me to discontinue service with them. On the heals of discontinuing service with them, what turned out to be a billing mix-up with them ended up causing my name to be turned over to not 1 but 2 different credit agencies in 2 different states to collect on a debt that was never due. I am a bit bitter when anyone talks about this company.

I switched to AT&T Uverse. I never thought in a million years I would go back to the phone company. My Uverse internet, phone, & tv service rocked for over a year. Lately, the DVR boxes have gotten all flakey (I think after a recent update) and the TV signal to my bedroom box has issues now. So nothing is ever perfect…

Someday we’ll all have super dooper high speed high def wireless everything…

This is going a nudge off-topic but to add something to cachelovsky’s great post, for any of you out there reading this who think you are entitled to find every single cache you search and log as such in your negative “cranky” sounding dnf’s or notes please keep in mind that:

    – it is only a game…
    – it is okay to go back a few times to find a cache…
    – Sometimes they all can’t be found..
    – A dnf doesn’t always mean it’s MIA..
    – 5 consecutive dnf’s don’t always mean it’s MIA
    – Having 5000+ finds under your belt does not mean you should be able to find every single cache out there
    – creativity and new ideas should be rewarded not grumbled at with negativity

The last thing we want to do is discourage creative cache hiders from putting out that next new idea or challenge. So please just think about rewarding the challenge and creativity rather than criticizing because you couldn’t find a cache today.

After all the heading for the help forum says, and I quote: “Stuck on a cache?

Well then perhaps someone should post a “sticky” outlining some baseline “rules” to go with this. In gotta run’s defense, it’s their cache that ended up being publicly discussed in this forum which is completely unfair. If it were my cache I would have asked for a forum admin to start removing posts that disclosed specific information on a specific cache.

Yes the forum title may say “stuck on a cache?” but that does not give you or I the right to openly discuss specifics about a particular cache hide in a public geocaching forum. Then we might as well start publishing puzzle solves as well. How about spoiler pics?

I get -why- you posted zuma but encouraging our group (and relatively new members and cachers) to openly discuss cache hides on specific caches of other members is wrong. Sorry it just is.

I actually used the “close enough” option on a cache that is now archived. You didn’t need coordinates to find the final only the starting point and you didn’t need geochecker to solve the “puzzle” but I added it on there with the “close enough” option just because I could.

Interesting on the bandwidth limit. Groundspeak must not have stepped in on all fronts financially. I believe I read that geochecker was assisted by Groundspeak financially and not initially created by them.

To learn more about puzzle coordinates “checkers” you can read the February 3rd post by gotta run on this thread:

Interesting to note that the only listed “con” of geochecker is issues with outages… 😮

the days of solving puzzles without anything like geochecker…

how in the world did you solve them without the ability to repeatedly guess ❓ ❓ 😯

I saw coords written on a small piece of wood in bark chips once. Now that’s evil..

I had an idea once to put coords on a broken brick (which was already at ground zero). The cache ultimately got nixed because of proximity issues..

I’ve heard about an infamous piece of carpeting or something of the like…

Then there was this “fun guy” I met once…

Let your imagination wander.. Of course these types of hides just produce lots of grumpy dnf’s and needs maintenance logs when those who feel entitled to log every cache as a find can’t find it.

It is a cool idea for a sharing/general ed. thread but alas it turned into a tip on an existing specific cache.. probably bound to happen eventually on a thread like this one or one on trying to solve a certain kind of puzzle…

    Try this:

    http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Wiki&pagename=Help%20Spread%20The%20Word

This is found under the “Wiki” menu on the left menu of our site.

Who else is singing the jingle now after reading that article?

Hey Bruce, if you want some background on the KFC designator and where it all started check out this thread:

    http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7056&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Your eternal question cache is completely what the original KFC idea was meant to be… and yes it might just be a little too related to the chicken place.. 😉

Indeed, anyone can place the KFC designator on their cache. I also place the “blurb” on mine that Team Hemi had originally thought up but many just put KFC in the cache name somewhere. Mine are at the beginning and some put it at the end.

Then you have seldom|seen who makes “PUC” which are Parent Un-Friendly Caches.. he always has to be different..

I am glad you poked your head into this thread and the forums!! 😀

Cachers who take what’s in an encrypted hint and directly reference the hint in their logs. What the point of encrypted hints then?
