So am I to assume that I can’t log any caches from our phone using the Trimble service without upsetting the balance of the entire geocaching communityIt shouldn’t upset any cache owner any more than a cut and paste log or a TFTC. That is if you don’t type anything and all we see is the default text.
This trimble thing is “something new” and got associated with this thread which as many have pointed out is more about “drive by caching” than it is about logging your caches from a phone device.
I am a big fan of (and always do) personally type every cache log online. I don’t cut and paste and I don’t just write TFTC even on a boring or lame cache. I also make every attempt to sign the physical log (which is what this thread is all about).
If I had a fancy phone app that allowed me to type in the field, it would really be no different for me than the notes I jot down in my mini notebook. I would still sit down after a day of caching and revisit some of those memories by typing my logs in how I want them to be online. This is the main reason why “field notes” were invented I have read (I don’t use this functionality).
Log how you like. You will always offend someone 🙄
Just remember to sign the physical log or your online log might get deleted regardless of whether your online log was a thesis statement or “Logged from my trimble”.
Does that trimble application only “let you” log a find if you are geographically close to a cache? that would be pretty cool if that’s what it does…
I believe Zoom Zoom is a Mazda commercial not a Toyota… 😛
I digress…
Zoom, zoom!
I think you have the wrong manufacturer…
Oh yeah, Team B Squared’s story reminded me of another unpublished cache I had found. Was hunting a new one in Kaukauna trying to be FTF in the winter along a trail. Managed to get the FTF and then went on to hunt a series of GizFinder caches on the trail. On the exact same tree as one of Giz’s was another cache container almost identical to the one I had just been FTF on. I posted a note about it on the cache I found. Talk about proximity issues 😀
Congrats!!
You beat me to that milk carton in a bush by almost a half hour… of course I’ve been out of the ftf game for awhile now but sometimes you just have nothing better to do. All these newer cachers zooming right by me. soon you too will pass me right by. Great job on keeping the momentum.
congrats!!!
I found an unpublished cache near high cliff state park while hiding temp caches. It’s still not published yet…
perhaps you’d get more responses if you hadn’t posted in off-topic? Many don’t read this thread…
Congrats!!!
Congrats!!
