Bec, I hate to say it, but that is not the complete map or is does not include waysides, which are owned by the DOT. Off the top of my head I can think of a half a dozen in this area.

Who is at fault for tresspassing? I have to say that it would be the cacher. Not too many years ago one could hunt on any land that was not posted. If the land owner did not want hunters there, it was his/her responsibilty to post the land. Then state law was changed to put the burden on the hunter to prove that he/she was not tresspassing.
“This is a true store that happened a few years ago. A new cacher was heading along the Namekagon River. They found the cache, and signed the log and was walking the trail back. They came across NPS Park Ranger. He asked the what they where doing. They answered geocaching. He handed them a $180 ticket for trespassing.” Not to be taken the wrong way, but I have a real hard time believeing this. I would think that a governmental entity would have something posted to warn someone if they were about to tresspass. Especially the Fed or State. I’ve never heard of government land totally off limits to the public, except military installations and such. And even those have signs posted. I wish I could be speaking from experience, but I’m not. Just my thoughts.
I speak of the truth as I talked to the NPS officer myself. The grounds that this cache was placed IS OPEN to hunting, camping canoing and almost anything else you could do. The simple truth is geocaching is not allowed in this part of the river. Since this has happened, I have worked with NPS officer along with a couple former reviewers and have gotten a change that allows caches along the river that IS NOT NPS PROPERTY but does lie within the boundaries of the river. Also, I have been informed that the Director of The St. Croix Scenic River way and his staff are looking into changing their policy about geocaching. They are to have/had their meeting this month to go over it.
This fall I was at a landing. A NPS ranger truck pulled up. I was just letting my dog swim. It was the NPS ranger that I have talked many times to. (My GPSr was in the truck! 😉 ) I started talking to him about geocaching. He tells me he if for it. He does not see anything wrong with it, but he has to enforce the rules that are in place now.
He points over to a tree and says” that would be a good place for a cache to hide.” I look like this 😯 . “HUH?” I ask. “I didn’t think one could be placed there.” He points, “There yes, over there no.” ” What’s the diff?” I ask. “On that side of the road is DNR Property, on this side is Park service property. ” he tells me. ” Sooooooo if I were to get DNR permission, you would sign off on a request?” “Yup!” He says’s with a smile.
I know I have not posted anything yet. And I apologize for that. Things for me have been very hectic the last few weeks.
I agree that rest areas should be open to caches. But if the DOT’s stance is no, then it’s no.
This is where the WGA Board and it’s members have a meeting with the DOT and explain everything. By leaving the caches out there, it is my belief that a bigger mess is be caused by this action. The caches should be pulled, BUT NOT BY THE WGA OR THE WGA BOD, BUT BY GROUND SPEAK AND IT’S REVIEWERS.
As an organization we keep asking for them to change there policy.
By going and saying ” Look, even though you told use that the can’t be here, we left them here to show you that they are not causing a problem.”
That in its self is the problem. By not abiding by there there stance, it is My Opinion that the WGA is causing a bigger problem than fixing the problem.Awhile back there was a story of a guy who made his car run on water. I think his car was like a 10 year old bmw or something like that. It had a top speed of like 50 mph and the only byproduct was water vapor. He had submitted his idea to all the major car companies, but only 1 showed any interest.
Here is a link to the rules page.http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/racing/rules/rrules-01.html
You have to pick 8 drivers from 3 different list. And then before qualifying, you have to pick 4 as you “starters”. The season is split into 2 halfs. You can only use a drive for 9 races too. For more details, look in the rules. How about a badger? But ya can’t use “Bucky” cuz of trademark issues.
Cheese heads don’t always mean Packers. Cows, light houses, deer and fish don’t represent all of Wisconsin either. How many light houses are in Madison, Eau Clair or Hudson? How about a brat and and mug of beer?
Here is a story. I was in Costa Maya, and one of the locals asked where I was from. I told him Wisconsin and he says “Si! Cheeeeeeessseee head”
Name “one” other object that represents ALL of Wisconsin.
Ya, but how many are active on the boards? I try to nominate a cache from “up here ” every month” just some of my favorites noticed. There are a whole lot of cachers up here that never even heard of the WGA. Unless you did a mass emailing every month, just the regulars visitors vote.

I kind of like keeping the totals secret until after all of the votes are cast. By keeping the totals secret, the winning cache will have to do so on it’s own merits.
I agree.

You ready for this one?
Hehehehe….
Bec
IF that one don’t get ya this one will!
My Boy LollipopYou still have the option of writing a reviewer note. Click on the log it box and it should be on the bottom. Just list the correct coords and what needs to be done and the reviewer should get a notification.(at least that how I did it once.)
Or post the total after the vote is done?
That’s pretty cool! Hey wait! Was I just called a GEEK????

No duhhhhhh
For glasses not contacts……….
😆
NO DUUUH to you bud! 😛 I can’t see with out contacts either! I can barely see past my nose with out my glasses or contacts.
So let me re- phrase….without wearing either my contacts OR glasses, the expermint did not work for me.
Last spring i was on a cache run and about 30 miles from home. I was going after a cache when got poked in the eye by a branch and ripped my right contact. Well I’m right eye dominate and left eye is weeker. I continued on my run, driving with one fuzzy eye.

Optional seed caches are allowed; caches REQUIRING that you place a seed are not allowed. When considering a seed cache, please think about whether the area where you will place it will benefit from an explosion of new micro caches (or place a seed cache with bigger containers, such as GC100AX).
I have a big rubber made tote that I’m going to use. I was planning to use an assortment of containers. Some big pill bottles, some small, but also some gallon sizes plastic containers and some that are medium sized too. Since I do not like micros too much there ain’t gonna be to many of them in the container.
ya know, I took my contacts out to try this and I still couldn’t see nothing.
