How many Wisconsin cachers are there? How many voted for the BOD (not many)? How many even know WGA exist?

EXACTLY!!! There are cachers from this region who have NO IDEA about the WGA. Now I’m not trying to steal this thread and maybe a new topic should be started, but this all goes back to what I have brought up before about the WGA being south-eastern part of the state. Maybe I need to change my stance on this issue about non- residents. I bet that this part of the state gets more non-resident geocachers from Minnesota and Michigan than we get from the Green Bay, Madison and Milwaukee areas.

I could go on here and really stir up the hornets nest but I will leave it for another subject

I would agree that a member need to live in Wisconsin, 3/4 of the year or whatever it is to have a valid Wisconsin I.D. card. Even thou I am also a member of both MIGO and MNGA. I joined those organization because of how close I live Duluth area and the Ironwood area and have a family cabin in the Keeweenaw. I have yet to find any caches in those areas.

What is my point of this post…..I dunno!

Just that it should be left they way it is.

If you change the membership, then do you change the COTM?? If I put a very cool cache up in at our cabin in the Keeweenaw should it be considered, no. Works on the same premise.

I tried to get this posted on GC.com but because it is 12 days out instead of 14 they wont post it. And we all know how many Cachers from Northwestern Wisconsin EVEN know about the WGA or this SITE!!

    So here is the deal:

Location: Anglers Bar & Grill,-Patio on Main St. Downtown
    Hayward. Time: 6ish?
    When: Wednesday Aug. 22

Just where did the Summer go? It’s my Birthday and that means
summer is almost over. So let’s have a little meet and greet, talk
about geocaching, trade stories and meet new friends. Also a chance
for Apostle Island to use her Chip! I would also like to talk about
holding a Picnic/event in the Hayward area next year. Since this is
the the first time I have done this, do not expect much!!

Hope to see ya there, but probably not………. 👿

Something about guidelines……… and just how many WIS DOT wayside geocahes are there?? There are against guidelines but yet there they are!

    OPPS! Sorry! Wed. Aug. 22

And Like I said, this will be just a very small get together. Nothing fancy.

Where are we getting the phone numbers from? 😯

    That’s what I was wondering.

Is there a 1-800-phone- a- friend or 411 Geo Help hot-line? I couldn’t even make a call even if I wanted to when I was looking for An Ounce of Courage Maybe if I had a satellite phone. Hey there is an idea, push a button on your GPSr and it will connect you to 1-800-Dork

Course, I’m just crazy enough to have adopted The Gauntlet as well.

I think there’d be a long line for that one…I know I’d be in it.

What, are you guys INSANE? 😯

    😆

Weeeell YAAAA! They are Geocachers for Pete’s Sake!

in reply to: Please Help if you can.. #1877764

I sent you two that I would adopt if you like. But I can’t do nothing from the adoption page.

in reply to: RED JEEP ALERT! #1877716

I put mine out and sent one up to Alaska with elfdoctors to put out. I have tried to recover 3 but someone seems to beat me to them. I only found 1-2 green jeeps last year.

Johnny Spirit visited many of our (WGA) caches on the night of Nov 20, 2006. After reading his logs, I have come to the conclusion that his finds were virtual finds made from the comfort of his own home. If he has visited any of your caches, check the logs… was he really there?

I have deleted three of his logs from T&tb caches for failure of validity checks. And I will be checking the others.

Johnny Spirit – I don’t play that game.

How can you be sure about that? What are validity checks? Not each log is a rubber stamp. I have found many of my caches that have signed logs but nothing on GC.com. The DNR Land manger that I have worked with on many of my caches looks for them for fun, will sign a log, but never go on line and log them.

While doing a check on one this week, I discovered a log by both DNR personal and the County Forester who stated they found the cache with out the help of the GPSr. There is no way that the could have stumbled upon the cache. It was off the path an din a a deep stump and covered up.

I’m not a big fan of micros either, but there are not all that many up this way. I tend to over think them when looking for them. I been doing some recon for a new set I want to put out. The places I have picked out will not support large caches. My plan is to have 6 or seven micros and then have a large ammo box for the final. For me, it’s more about the hunt and the hide and the container or whats inside.

What software do you use to manage your geocaches/GPS?

I use GSAK and I have a Garmin GPSmap 60

I think there is also a down load from the Gramin site for something too.

M.r Brown is my new hero! I enjoy all his shows. I too noticed the coords during the show and the wife looked at me said ” Well, now I suppose you are going to put them in your GPS, huh? I told her no I wasn’t. Very cool show! 8)

Hmmmm. This thread makes me think that perhaps someone should not put out a puzzle cache unless they can figure out how to create it. all by themselves!

I know how to crate them, I just do not how to put them in computer terms. And writing them with a sharpie on the screen ain’t gonna help no one!!

Thanks Greendale4X4!!! That is what I needed!!

Now I just need to figure out font color and back ground color which I think I know how to do.

BUT!!! Does anyone know how to make a custom cipher wheel on the computer?? IF I can figure that out, the geocaching community of norther Wisconsin is gonna be in for a headache! 😈 8) 😯 😀 😛

You can probably take a screenshot of the Excel page, then trim it down to just what you want to show on the cache page.

Ok….How do I make a screen shot? How do I trim it down? And What do I have to do for it to show up on my cache page???? 😳 😳 😕 😕

This part of computer I know nothing about……as you can tell! 🙄

in reply to: How do I make this? #1877221

Ok! I have a document that I made using Excel that has the letters, colors, numbers and symbols I want to use. How do I get into my cache page? Do I have to scan it and make it into a JPEG. format? Or do I put it into a html. format or what? 😕 😕 😕
