One more note. Sen. Jauch stopped by work is morning and dropped me a note saying “that he was having his office call the DOT office and start looking into it”.

Well…my buddy Bob.( He calls me Chris, I call him Sen. Jauch…) was in the store again today. Said he has talked to the DOT and they are considering some changes to their policies. He said there seems to have been some misconcepetions and not enough facts before. I said I thought the WGA sent some info again with their request. He said that “They” have a better understand of goecaching now. And then there he was….gone!

So, things seem to be moving in a positive direction 😀

Ya, maybe. somewhere. But it would be in general and not strictly tagaeting geocaches. I send an email to one of the reviewers, or they just might see this thread and give you the info you are looking for.

Ya, that would be Highway right -of -way. By law, grage sale signs and such are not to be in the right-a-way eiher . $50 fine Very rarely enforced. Same with canidate politcal signs. (My dad worked for the DOT for 35+ years. Part of his job as approving signs and drives off the right-a-way.)

Like it or not ANYTHING said by a “Person on Office” be it the President, Senator, Congressman, Governor or any other elected position, can and will be used against them if it is said negatively towards someone/something else. That’s the world of politics.

UNGA is a Facebook page. It has a T-shirt. Just like the WWGA. It’s not “organized” in any way It is meant for people to gather who play the game “Up North” Well, the Dells are “Up North” of West Bend & Madison.
So that falls under the definition of “Up North”. Madison is “Up North of Chicago” ,Duluth is “Up North” of Rice Lake

Until now UNGA was never mentioned in these forums. No need to.
I support the WGA. Hell made a stink to buy a dang T-shirt. I make a stink to get more “Up North” cachers involved in the WGA. The WGA represent Geocaching on Wisconsin. It is just MY belief. the it does not represent ALL of Wisconsin geocachers equally.

Thanks Deejay! Kinda what I thought. But the lights DO make pretty awsome nite caches.

Do YOU have a problem with UNGA? I also belong to MnGo & MiGO. Do YOU have a problem with that also? DO YOU REALLY want me to START , MR. BOD MEMBER?????

There is cache on #108(Color Me yellow II?????) Surpisingly there aare no other caches on that road. There are a couple further that I own down the road. There is a couple of trails of Boedecker and Janet Ed that I ahve beem wanting to put a series on for quite awhile. #95 is virgin country. There are no cacher around that rd.

I have thought of doing a recipe exchange cache also. But have never gotten around to it. YOu could leave them as your “calling card” as some other cachers do. You could put your name on the front and the recipe on the back. I agree that you should laminate them otherwise you will just have a big stinky ness after awhile.

There are various lakes where a small public access boat landing exists, but the rest of the shoreline is private property. I’d like to place a “boat needed” cache but there is no other public property to put a cache. The obvious solution is to find a landowner who doesn’t mind if I hang something from one of their shoreline trees but I am looking for other ideas. No I do not want to make a SCUBA cache. Any suggestions/examples?

Need help on the scuba side? 😛

SCUBA? Isn’t that like of version waymarking that no one does? 😉

Well I’m not much of a Java fan myself because my forte is in the languages of the Evil Empire (Microsoft). Based on my involvement with various projects though I have had to use Java and have also dabbled with some Java programming. It’s like anything having it’s Pro’s / Con’s. I could sight a number of equivalent examples of the Evil Empire “forcing” software on me as well that hoses things up. Fortunately with Java you can uninstall it relatively easily compared to the “other guys”.

So enough of the rambling – I can’t explain how Java turns itself back on, but I’m a programmer not an infrastructure guy which are different specialties (similar to body shop guy vs. tire change guy).

HUH? 😯 What did he just say???? 😕

in reply to: What sort of GPSr to buy #1928446

If/ when I get a new gps or back up, this is what I would get.
    GPSMAP 60Cx
No altimiter or compass. I have turned off my compass as I got tired of doing the recalibrating dance. Somewhere on here a few weeks back, someone posted a deal on one for about $200 butI can find the post.

Btw, I’ve purchased several geocaching and non-geocaching event t-shirts in my life, sight unseen. Color unseen. Especially if it’s for a good cause.

Plenty of stores sell great t-shirts with great designs and great prices. Not many of those stores support non-profit groups that I choose to support. I see it as a win-win, even if the shirt ends up being lime green 😉

It’s a t-shirt sale for those attending the event. It’s never been advertised as anything else. If anyone is interested in getting one and is not attending, I’m sure it would be possible to get one without any debate on the forums or calling out the board.

Well, I don’t have a cash tree in my back yard and my wife doesn’t like it when I spend on geocaching stuff. So I have to be a little frugle when I do and I would have gotten chewed out for buying the hoodie anyhow.

Ya I relize that being on the BOD is a thanksless job. So IT DOES come down to attending to get a shirt. Well, I’m not going to travel 6 hrs for a shirt, cuz like ALL the MEMBERS of the BOD, I also have a job and family obligations. I’ve been PM’ed say I should run for the BOD next year. Well, I would but since I can’t make the event cuz they are 4-6 hrs away, and BOD MEMBERS HAVE TO ATTEND WGA EVENTS, I can’t run. So, what it all comes down to is that this campout IS for the SE WI WGA members. NOT the WHOLE WGA MEMBERSHIP. THE WGA is looking to make money, you would think that selling shirts and and adding postage would be a way to do it.
I wanted something that looks kinda neat. I sorry, the stuff on Cafe press are not neat, and won’t spend my money on something I don’t like.

Shane would you by a WI coin with out seeing it first?.

This event is held for the Majority, how much of the Majority is planning on attending?

Cuz I can’t attent the event I thought I’d try to support the WGA and the Campout buy bying a shirt. My bad. It was not my intention to call out any particular BOD member, I was just pointing out facts. I just hope there is a wrap up meeting and it will be discussed on how to try to make thing better for all WGA members, cuz it seems that the only way I can get a response to anything is when I start ranting. And I don’t like ranting cuz I makes me look like a big JACKASS. I just ask that the BOD look the whole picture and not the SE Corner.
