My general feelings are this….
The campout is for the travelers. People are willing to travel much further because they can spend the night. For the campout, distance isn’t a major consideration.
The picnic is for the masses. It should be held near higher population areas to accomodate the most amount of people. People are not as willing to travel several hours, attend the event, then drive several hours back.
Last year we had the picnic in the Western part of the state.
I’d like to see us revisit Lapham Peak! We would have a HUGE turnout..
Is that so? So when was the last camp out held that was 6-7 hrs from Madison or Milwaukee. Admit it. A WGA event will never be held in the Northwest part of the state as in Superior/ Hurley areas. The farthest North it will ever be the Eau Claire region. Heck! I’d be happy id it was over in the St. Croix Falls. There is a big park there along the river.( If there has been a WGA event there, then my bad)
Every-time this discussion comes up,there more and more reason that a UP North Wisconsin Geocascher Association should be made.
Those of us who live north of Eau Claire can gripe till we are blue in the face cuz it will never change. And don’t say that’s what elections are for, cuz what is it…75-80% are from the SE part of the state. You want more people involvement from the north, hold an event up here! Cuz there are a bunch of us rednecks from the sticks the geocache and the majority of them have never heard of the WGA.Sometimes it’s the town or church even county. Office of Land Records would have the info.

any chance of something north of hwy 29, maybe not this year, but how bout planning something farther in the future
Not gonna happen in this lifetime.nope,no way no how cuz as I’ve been told majority rules. Always has always will.
But since you asked for suggestions
Amnicon Falls State Park, Patterson State Park, Copper Falls State Park…I could list more but what’s the point?Ummm…do you find this checker-thing-ma-jig? Not that I’m even close to finishing the challenge.
I do not have one that small. The one I had was just less than an inch long. And Zuma DID find it. Remember Z-man? Put some camo duck tap and some clear fingernail polish and you should be good to go. They work great in worm holes in tree bark. I got mine a pharmacy for about $6. It’s for Nitro pills and you put it on your key chain. Wally World also had some a little bit bigger. about 2 inches long and the with of a nickle or so. Called a fob container I think.

I just picked up my Delorme Atlas. Looking forward to getting started. It is going to be tough getting to Northern WI. Now might be the time to get the motorcycle running and let the RV sit.
No…there are paved roads up here and everything despite popular belief. So it’s really not all that tough. 🙄 😉
Ummm depending on what Garmin you get, you can turn the compass off.
Another thing to note. Garmin units are the only units that you can download directly to from GC.com…for now at least.Very cool video Ken!
Hmmmmmmm. A thread that is 3 1/2 years old gets a post about a cache from a new member, a member who had no idea what they found buy yet finds a buried thread????? Hmmmmmmmm 😯 😯 😕 😕
😯 😯 😯 I HATE SNAKES!!!!! 😯 😯 😯 I do not even like gardener snakes!!
05/09/2008 at 11:08 pm in reply to: Discussion of not logging temps, starting with this event #1888681I’m not trying to start noting here but, how do you log a temp? Where on GC.com is there a way to log a temp? Attending an event is not a cache find. I’m not against against anyone logging a temp, but there needs to be a space to do it. Until GC.com makes it so you can only attend an event ONCE this debate will go on and on. So here is another option I just thought of. Make each cache an event! That should work then right? Each event has a GC number right. So make it so there is 10-25 or whatever events at the park. Each event has given coords, has a description and every thing else a regular cache has. And when the event is done, there all done. Maybe GC.com should make it an option to show ones stats. That way it’s up to the player open to the general public. If no one can see your stats, then they can’t bitch.
This subject kind of reminds me of skiing. So people use the classic method and some use the skating method. I’m not sure who many are familiar with the Birkie ski race that is held up here. Well, The classic skiers lobbied and now they are making a classic trail and a skating trail, side by side.
Maybe this is what GC.com need to make, a classic log and a new age logDown by I think Red Wing, MN.,along the Mississippi River I think there is an Eagle Sanctuary along the stretch of highway. I had never see so many birds in such a short stretch.
I think Passing Wind is also working on this project in northern Minn.
Ummmm…where is High Cliff?
Say What?? 😯 😯 They’re starting to let then Canucks back in??? The U.S. of A. is goin’ to hell I tell ya! 😛 😆 The 2008 is a little different then the old ones. Somewhere there is thread all about it.
