Yeah… We archived it immediately.
Sadly this cache was clearly on Forest Preserve TRAILS and property. Its not one that anyone spends hours finding, its basically walk up, identify it, and leave.
Its a shame that the adjacent property owner had his panties in a bunch – I certainly will be telling people my opinion of the new owners. (It was only recently purchased by a new owner – an oversensitive one apparently)
But, what a shame to jump to conclusions. Didnt they assume that IF these two men were stealing, they would have, um.. run off if they heard the management yell ‘Call 911’????? Naw! We all know criminals keep on going when they have been detected, and they stroll at a leisurely pace up marked trails when done committing crimes, right?
IMO the owner, and the police handled this STUPIDLY.
Its a shame, but not worth keeping the cache active. I dont want anyone else to encounter such crappy neighbors.
Congrats!
Well… everyone is entitled to an opinion. Im certainly not bothered by someone voicing it.
If I dont like it, or disagree… I close the page.
I can see both sides on the Gauntlet – I see that some people enjoyed the idea – but, I personally would not have. Whats the point?
If I want to create a ‘talked about’ cache, I want it to be something special, that people REALLY want to talk about. (Not a liars cache!)
But.. thats MY opinion!
Like new was an understatement!
Thanks again! If this is the only form of ‘feedback’ I get to give, its worth it!
😉 Would buy from again! A++
Another creative cacher – we have certainly enjoyed CD’s caches, and consider them very memorable.
Also, attended an excellent planned event run by Dave, and truly enjoyed meeting him.
Some absolutely excellent Nominees here – while Im in IL, I certainly think the WGA has some absolutely excellent members, and has chosen some outstanding nominees.

I will chime in and say thats Rogers caches range from the extremely creative to the evil! But you can always expect something unique – which IMO is what this is all about.
A nice guy, a good ‘ambassador’ when it comes to meeting new people – we were new when we met him, and he was VERY friendly and helpful.
An excellent Nominee.

I certainly do appreciate the nomination for our DaVinci Code cache! I only heard about it when the ‘nominator’ emailed me – its a shame the series cant be nominated as a whole.
Its an excellent one, with some of its best in WI. When you plant that many, and need VERY specific locations for ‘effect’ its impossible to narrow them down to one state! Its somewhat weird to see only one of 11 up there. But, if you check out this one, be sure you do all of them.
Check your email!
Ours makes no attempt to be, well.. hidden. Its a white PVC that looks like something the city put there, and has its big orange Geocaching label on it! LOL
We keep a baggie over the top to make it watertight. Seems to be low tech, but definitely works.
We likely wont do more like this though. Too many other fun container options! We have a few to plant now!
Very cool! We will watch for it, since I think we had a T &TB sighting this weekend.
Welcome!
Rogher – you could count us in on that Group hunt!
Maybe we need to get a ‘orientation’ hunt going for the new folks to meet all us odd.. um, quirky regulars. LOL
Welcome! If you ever head down to the southeast WI/Northeast IL corner, theres a fantastic group of folks here!
Honestly guys, not to be a downer, but after what I heard, Im glad I didnt take the time to do it. We have a little guy who we would have had to send with grandma, and had I wasted time on a cache, when I could have spent the day hitting some of the more nearby ones, I would have been LIVID.
Theres so many great ones locally, I would have felt crappy wasting driving time when those hours could have been used more, well.. productively.
Bring small children and send them out after you think you have located GZ?
Ask a friend to find your lost glasses (which happen to be in an Ammo can in a tree trunk) Hey, you cant see to look for them, right?
Drive ups!
My way to deal with the snow? Bring hubby with, and pull the “My feet are SOOO cold” line.
Actually.. Im the one less likely to get cold. So, that wouldnt work for me.
LOL Hope no one minds a little humor!
We had a real bummer when placing our new DaVinci series… there is another Mystery cache in Racine that began near a building that we SOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanted to use as a clue… we had to settle for a cemetery instead, but it worked out.
I just could never bring myself to ask someone who owned an existing cache to move, or remove it to place another. (Although, that particular cache for the series IMO would have been REALLY super.. it still does what it needs to accomplish, but we had one HECK of a time finding another suitable spot!)
We did have one local cacher (TDSC) OFFER a great spot where an existing cache was for the series – and we GREATLY appreciated it.
Maybe if the Racine cache is ever archived, Ill redo our cache. But.. in the case of mystery caches, its a shame that the beginning coords will effect actual cache placement when another COULD be there. I mean, at this location is nothing to log, or sign but just a way to figure out how to find the next waypoint.
Our DESIRED spot is over 475 feet away from the ‘faux’ waypoint of the existing mystery cache, but not QUITE far enough. (And if any locals are curious as to where Im talking about – feel free to email… its a phenominal spot for the series…)
As I said, the existing cache is WONDERFUL, but I DO wish their mystery waypoint was a tiny bit further, or was a random location – it just bummed us out that our DREAM spot was unusable.
