There are soooo many good flavors, it’s so hard to choose!Ā  I just hadĀ a scoop of salted double caramel pecan from Culver’s that was delicious! If I really had to pick though, my very favorite is Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia.Ā Ā Cherry ice cream with cherries and fudge flakes….mmmmm….so good!!

The things that come to mind immediately are CO’s not maintaining their caches, and not having checkers on puzzle caches.Ā  If you’re going to be a cache owner, I believe you have an obligation in maintaining your caches, whether you have 10 caches or 1000 caches. If you cannot maintain them, perhaps you should not have that many.Ā Ā I’d also love to see checkers on all puzzle caches.Ā  I know that sometimes that’s part of the puzzle’s difficulty, but I’d rather be right, then search for something in an area that isn’t there.

My ideal caches are the ones that take you on a great hike to find a nice big ammo can at the end.Ā  One of my favorites I did recently was Snake Bite (GCJ3MM).Ā  It was a great 5 stage multi that I did in the fall.Ā  The leaves were beautiful, and it was the perfect fall day for a nice long walk.Ā  The WP’s were all very creative, and it took me to an area I would never have known existed. It was definitely my ideal cache.Ā  I also love creative caches and gadget caches too.Ā  It’s so cool to see the thought and time that some cachers put in to them.Ā  I’ve found myself getting a nice laugh after finding a few, and that just adds to the experience.Ā  I have a love hate with challenging puzzles/caches.Ā  Once I can make the solve or find, I feel such a great sense of accomplishment, and when I don’t it’s the frustration that pushes me harder to find it.Ā  Ā Ā Ā

in reply to: WGA Events? #2053326

I am committed to making 6 of the 7 this year.Ā  Unfortunately, I have a vacation planned to Ohio during the spring campout, but will be available for all of the other events.Ā

I have had to work in many groups at work, and also in school.Ā  Sometimes it’s been quite a challenge, but you pull together and you do what it takes to get the job done.Ā  While in school, I was placed in many groups of varying age groups, different backgrounds and different work ethics.Ā  My grades depended on the group effort, so I wanted to succeed.Ā  That meant at times I had to be the bad guy and ā€œnagā€ people to get their work done, other times it meant just giving direction.Ā  Sometimes it was others in the group pushing me to rethink my opinions as well.Ā  The point is that it takes everyone in a group to help each other, and to challenge each other to do their best.Ā  You may not always agree with how things are done, or ideas that are shared, but remaining respectful and listening to each other’s views and opinions is important.Ā

in reply to: Candidate Question: How do you feel about events? #2053324

At the last WGA picnic, I helped out at the event instead of caching. I found one cache at the picnic, and I was okay with that.Ā  Geocaching to me is the overall experiences.Ā  It’s the people that you meet, and the places that you see.Ā  For me, it’s not just about the numbers.Ā  I really love the social aspect of it as well.

I live in Milwaukee, and find it very unfortunate that any area would feel neglected. That shouldn’t be the case.Ā  I’m somewhat a newbie, but I do like that every year the picnic and campout are in different areas of the state, and the following year they are also in the opposite corners from the previous years as well.Ā  I’m guessing that this was not always the case.Ā

For me, I like to travel, and have the ability to do that, but understandably not everyone does.Ā  Perhaps a poll can be taken prior to the events for the next year. Give the members a voice in helping to pick where events are held.Ā  Have them offer suggestions of what they’d like to see and if there hasn’t been an event in a certain area within two years definitely make that area a priority.Ā

There is a map also available where members can add their location.Ā  I’m not sure if this is completely being utilized as much as it could, but getting a good sense of where the members are, I think can also help make sure that the events are spread across the state.Ā

in reply to: How many? WGA Events #2053285

I started caching in 2014, so I probably haven’t attended as many WGA eventsĀ as some of the others who have been caching longer, but my very first WGA event was the spring campout at High Cliff State Park in May of 2015.Ā  I didn’t know anyone, but everyone I met was very nice and friendly, it was a very enjoyable weekend.Ā  Ā In 2015 I also attended the WGA Pancake Breakfast after the cache bash, and I also attended the fall campout at Pattison State Park.Ā  In 2016 I attended the Chili Feed Event, helped host the Lonely Cache event, attended the chilly spring campout in Kettle Moraine State Forest (picked up my very first tick here, yuck!) and also attended and helped out at the fall picnic in the Black River State Forest.Ā  So my total is 7.Ā  I’ve really enjoyed all the events, but if I had to pick a favorite, I think it would be the picnic at Pattison.Ā  The area is gorgeous up there, and I really doubt I would have made it up that far if it wasn’t for the WGA event.Ā  The caches were fun and creative, and I enjoyed seeing the waterfalls, and also visiting Amnicon State Park, which again I’m sure I never would have visited.Ā  Looking forward to more WGA events and adventures this year!Ā  Ā Ā

in reply to: What Makes You The Best Candidate #2053246

Honestly, when I first saw the question, my initial thought was I think we’re all great candidates in our own ways, otherwise I don’t believe we would have been nominated.Ā  That said, when I do something, I’m all in.Ā  I’m committed to the tasks on hand, and will do whatever it takes to get the job done.Ā  I’m the person that will be asking what else can I do to help.Ā  Not all jobs or tasks will be fun, but someone has to do it.Ā  I’m dedicated, and I bring positive attitude to the table.Ā  Many times there will be difference in opinions, I view myself as open minded, and willing to hear other individuals thoughts, without placing judgement.Ā  I also view myself as social and active, which I think are very good qualities for a BOD member to have.

The purpose of the WGA is to work with the DNR, and other property management officials, to protect the rights of geocachers, and to provide the opportunity for geocachers to gather and socialize.Ā  The WGA promotes CITO’s, trail/park maintenance and helps to educate geocachers about the responsible use of natural resources, and to educate non-geocachers, about geocaching.Ā

Ā If elected, my mission statement as a BOD would be to continue to promote preservation of our parks/trails, and to continue to educate geocachers and non-geocachers on various topics surrounding geocaching, and the environment in which caches are placed.

in reply to: Candidate Question: 15 Years #2053164

I would think an event for sure, or at very least, at every WGA event have something signifying this achievement.Ā  Maybe shirts or other merchandise with a logo incorporating that it’s been 15 years since the WGA’s inception.Ā  Maybe 15 hidden tokens placed in random WGA state park caches, which can be redeemed for merchandise.Ā  So much that can be done!

Not an actual cache that I’m aware of, but you do get a really cool pathtag from the WGA.

Congrats on your completion! Ā I haven’t finished the series yet, but I completely agree with you so far. Ā I loved Amnicon Falls! Interstate was pretty cool too, I definitely want to get back there to explore a bit more.
