I haven’t had the problem caching (yet) this winter, but for snowblowing I have a pair of cleats that attach over my boots. They’re the cheapy rubber stretch kind, but serve the purpose pretty well giving me a little extra grab. The only downside is that using them on concrete wears them out pretty quick.

But a job well done to huffinpuffin2. Surely there aren’t too many lonelies left for them in February…
What!? 481 caches on the list and they’ve only knocked off 55. Based on my calculations that leaves 426 for February. ๐ฏ
I must congratulate them as well. I thought I was off to a respectable start on 1/1 when we met up with them out at Sloppy Seconds. Then a few weeks later we met up again (this time with Gotta Run – another legend) to do Super Serums. Even at that time I thought I was going to compete, but in the last weeks I’ve been blown away by the number of caches they’ve completed. It’s interesting to see some of the caches we’ve leapfrogged on (I log / they log & they log / I log).
I think this is a great accomplishment and should win some kind of award. Maybe golf clubs? That may slow them down a bit during the warmer weather. ๐ ๐ ๐
Congratulations on a safe travel across the “pond”. I was present for milestone #666 (BakRdz) just a few weeks ago so it’s obvious the winter weather isn’t slowing you down.
Although I’ve never met the other half of this milestone team, I’ve heard a few stories from BakRdz and congratulate both of them on a great shared experience.
I’m curious to see how this goes. Here’s a couple of thoughts that run through my head.
1) Use some of my hunting / fishing license fees to help pay for this. I’d gladly pay $1 extra if the money could be earmarked to a great program like this.
2) If successful, then there are other DNR properties (public hunting land, habit restoration areas, etc.) that future projects could target. These may not be typical trails but would highlight the great stuff that’s off the beaten path.
3) Rustic Roads – I know BakRdz is doing a great job in central WI highlighting some of these with his caches. This is probably DOT and not DNR, but what a great thing to spotlight. All said – I commend the WGA board and it’s members for taking an active role in working with governmental agencies. I feel it’s a real win / win scenario and I’m hoping for a great successful outcome.

1. No.
2. Correct.
3. Parking, reference point, question to answer, and trailhead are not considered for proximity. Stages of a multicache and final location are, but if we understand that the SoaM is actually virtual, we won’t consider those either. If the location is virtual, please use question to answer as the waypoint type. (Reference point is intended for scenic views, points of interest, and the like.)SoaM translated = ????
Back to questions on multi’s. I’ll use the following 2 caches for illustration only. There is nothing particular about these caches, owners, etc. These caches just happen to be very near home and have the requirements for my questions.
Cache #1 – WSQ Iron Posts (GC1P70X) is a puzzle cemetery offset. The cache states “you must seek this offset container 575 feet WEST of the “post”ed coordinates”.
Cache #2 – Trees for Tommorow (GC1VEB0) is a traditional with parking / trailhead wp’s.
Questions
1) Do the posted coordinates of cache #1 qualify for the 528′ foot rule? Or just the final location? Technically there is no container here and really no need to visit the posted coordinates to find the cache.
2) For cache #2 – I’m assuming the parking / trailhead wp’s don’t count as part of any 528′ rule.
3) Is there a special designation on the WP’s listed on the cache that are included / excluded from the 528′ rule?I added 2 WSQ caches earlier this month as well.
Another event I couldn’t make due to family plans taking me elsewhere. Sounds like a great time was had by all once again. To do my part in spirit, I did attempt 2 lonelies in the Richfield area.
I really enjoy the LCG because I don’t get as much timing caching as I’d like and this provides my “list”. I’ve found many of the puzzles challenging but fun, many traditionals that are awesome locations but people just don’t want to walk a little, etc. Really a great mix of caches and as Zuma says – It keeps things fresh / current.
So I’m relatively new to the “naming” but am concerned because nobody is yet defending my border. I’ll be happy to start defending, but the “theme” …
I’m on the SE corner of “Wild Side” and NW corner of “Standing Stones” (yep that little dot on the page 11 map called “Berlin” – pronounced BUHR’-lihn according to MissPronouncer.com which is way different than the German city Berlin pronounced bรยปr-lin’)
I’ve also visited many of the neighboring lands in recent months and find that various “attributes” of each could become present quite easily in the vast untamed and undefended area.
Maybe “The JunkYard”? A collection of of things from various other lands. HMMMMM – This gives me some ideas …

Interesting idea, I’m ready to run. If you adjust the lines to the actual yellow border corners I think it puts the x right on CodeJunkies house :>
I do have a big backyard, so permission granted for my property. ๐ ๐ ๐
I’m getting nervous though as many people appear to be stalking me. ๐ ๐
This is pretty cool, especially for a CodeJunkie like me. As a one up as this was done it works good, but I can’t see it surviving in the real world. I’ve been thinking of a cache involving electronics, but we’ll have to see. The challenge is that with these one of a kind items you better have it under lock / key to keep it from walking away.

That is a norm when I go to Gander, spending over $50 that is.
However, There are other similar stores within visual distance of this one where the same $$$ will get you way more (based on my experience with the sports that I participate in).
And for the record – I think it is very misleading, leaning way towards being commercial. If the wording was changed then maybe I’d change my opinion, but as is it’s very misleading.
Oh – and all you need to do is ask at the desk. No check off sheet or validation required.
