Being relatively new – What the story behind the name? Or maybe that’s a new series of threads that should be started.
I also have to slow down this month. I’ll be logging #200 and my daughter will hopefully log #100. I’m hoping to make both of these while were visiting Mickey and Friends later this month. Guess that means I’m restricted to FTF’s and Lonelies only.
Firedrill at 2:00 pm today – (see “Thread Stealers” for details). Still an open invite. 😆 😆 😆
BTW BakRdz – There’s a new cache in Berlin and should be live later tonight I hope. All is submitted and waiting for review. Set your clock early tomorrow.
200 in a month is awesome. Also obviously quick to get in / out because I was STF on one of their FTF and was only 38 minutes behind them and it’s a 1/3 – 1/2 mile hike each way.
I wish I had this much time – or maybe I’m going to have to quit doing the S|S, cheeto, etc. puzzles. 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛
WOW – 2 months ago at Roche A Cri we met and I can’t believe you’re already passing the 1K mark. Congrats.
No turning back now – you’re officially stuck with the sport.

You mean, like can you claim that you found it first (since it was still there and findable) and get LCG points for that, and then did the rescue mission to remove the “geotrash”?
Basically yes, but maybe yesterday was a very rare case. I did a rescue for one I’ve never done before. Here’s my thoughts – A rescue is a separate task completely. Kind of like extra points for replacing with owner’s permission. In this case the mission is “approved” (i.e. permission). Here’s the alter scenario – There’s a lonely with a note saying “missing” and I’ve never done it before. I coordinate with the owner to confirm via phone (or other explicit instructions on hide location) before replacing. I make my way to GZ, verify the missing and replace. When I log this lonely I get to double dip (First time for me, plus replacement points).
My hunch is that most rescues are being done by people that have visited prior because they know the cache. In my case I made the trip because I was curious about someone logging a “found” on GC (not on LCG) after it being disabled. Netting an ammo can full of reusable goodies definately made it worthwhile, plus the junk is cleaned up.
Please remember I’m not breaking rules 11a / 11e, but just asking for the sake of asking.

Since some people are getting antsy, here are the changes:
4. Any cache rescue is worth 10 points. There will be a new section on the reporting page where you can select any cache active on the Cache Rescue page.
As a relative but having lots of fun with the LCG I have a question. I did a cache rescue mission today on a cache today and was surprised that it’s only 10 points. My assumption (let not get all balled up about this word) was that the 10 points were in addition to any legimate points I could earn.
I’ve searched the forums a bit and can find other references, but not anything that describes why it can’t be a “double dip” situation (like TB’s or long unfound caches). Just a thought from someone new to the game that has an inquiring mind.
I’m not complaining because I netted an ammo box that’s in great shape (if the owner doesn’t ask for it back)

Did ya see the turdy pointer?Nope dad didn’t see it or my rifle which explains how he drove over both. (True story).
One idea is to chronicle the story about last year’s gun deer season. Let’s just say it involved my good rifle, an 8 pointer that became 4, a pickup driven by my father, and a rather large “CRUNCH”.
Aside from that thoughts include “lessons” on Minutes of Angle (MOA), recoil, reloading, etc. There’s a ton of great info out there and the ties to DNR land would be perfect. I didn’t see anything in the guidelines to discourage it, but thought I’d put out some feelers first.
This thread is a little “stale”, but we’re going to visit Mickey and Friends at Disney World before the end of the year. Just wondering if anyone has any input on streamlining the search process. We’re staying on site which means we’ll only have access inside the park. I found a site the other day that talked about some Disney benchmarks, but I’ll have to dig that back up. Maybe this thread can become the “Disney cache list”, we’ll see.
I just created my own blog site yesterday, but haven’t posted content yet. My thoughts is to chronicle the stories leading up to some of the finds. Like last night as I researched a bunch of puzzle caches in the LCG. These things never get logged on the GC main site, but I think it’s an accomplishment worth noting when the puzzles are solved. Stay tuned for updates.

I just started a blog dedicated to cacheing. It is in its infancy, please help it become a great blog. You can be an author, with the ability to add content and post!! Check it out, let me know what you think, and give me some great ideas to make it better!!!
I’m the first follower on MuddyBottoms’ blog.
I wouldn’t sweat it at this point. One thing I’ve been fortunate enough to get is what I call “nudges”. I did a bunch of the Seldom|Seen puzzles last month and after a few unsuccessful attempts I contacted the owner and described in detail what I saw, where I looked, my assumptions, etc. This verified I was at ground zero, that I looked in likely spots, etc.
S|S then would either highlight certain words or give me certain words to help guide me. I’m not ashamed to ask for help and I’m not sure if these users did the same or not. To me if you can describe what you’ve done, your assumptions, etc. the owner will understand where you’re stuck and be able to help. To just expect a gratis hint is out of the question on some of single stage caches.
If the hint gives it away, then why call it a D3. If they were all easy that wouldn’t be any fun. I don’t get whipped out about logging DNF’s for myself. It happens and it’s part of the adventure. Too far this is so far or I’d take a run – it’s tempting.
