Isn’t GSAK great? It works great for downloading caches owned by an individual.
Start with an empty database and click “Geocaching.com access” and then “Get geocaches”. Click the “Advanced” tab and fill in the Owned by field.
I just tested it out for caches owned by CJ. Less than a minuted from start to finish.

Dang – I didn’t realize you could do this with GSAK. I was thinking you could download the LOC file with 20 caches at a time. Doing this through GSAK though provides a whole lot more options. Great catch on GSAK TBC.

This won’t give you a PQ, but it will show you the caches of another: go to: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/default.aspx ,
and enter their name into the “Hidden by Username:” box at bottom left, and then punch ‘GO’. Good luck!

Looks like you might be able to download this a page at a time.

Using GSAK this might be a doable option and then you could autocreate a bookmark list, or pull down additional cache details. I haven’t actually tried it, but I’m thinking it might work.

Seriously? I have seen lots of caches on or under bridges. If I were to report them all I would be the most hated cacher in central WI

Where did bridges come from? I thought I missed something, but went back to page 1 and can’t find anything. Did I miss something in this thread?

Awesome. Gotta love the pictures too. Hard to believe you were doing puzzles in my neck of the woods and I couldn’t even be a PAF because I haven’t done these yet. Great writeups about the adventures.

Took a look and what an interesting cache. Congrats on finally breaking the 1K barrier.

I still have my original eTrex Legend that’s now 3 years old. I can’t recall ever losing the signal completely. I’ve done the GPSr dance at times, but I don’t think that’s anything out of the ordinary for anyone.

Regarding “speed” of signal lock. Most units have a prediction algorithm that is good for a few days since it was last locked to a group of satellites. I’ve noticed my units gets a lock very quickly on consecutive days of use, but if it sits for 4+ days, then the signal lock takes a lot longer.

Also something to note is ensuring all comparisons are made with WAAS turned on which corrects the satellite reception via radio signal here on earth based on specific predefined accurate locations. Turn this off on your GPSr and you’ll notice a huge difference in accuracy.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. This was definately a fitting milestone cache and I have to thank JimandLinda for placing it. It was interesting how it all came together as I hadn’t really planned for a milestone on this trip. I was actually in search of a number of challenge caches in the Chicago area and didn’t even realize I missed “Beverly” (GC28) by 1.5 miles only. DANG – Maybe the next trip.

After a wild run in the windy city I was heading home picking up some other miscellaneous solved puzzles. I was talking with Muggle B at one point while entering some finds into my iPod. That’s when I noticed how close I was and tried to set things up. A couple DNF’s forced me to grab a P&G to pad the number, but otherwise things went perfect.

I definately enjoy the spirit of the LCG and cache rescues, but couple that with a puzzle and it becomes a “Must Do”.

For $200 you can get an iPod Touch (saving you $150) and get all the extra benefits of having this second device. Originally I was an anit-Apple person but have fell in love with the iPod that I use for caching. Tack on the ability for audio book in the car, a few other miscellaneous apps and it’s a great add-on to a standard GPS if you’re comfortable with what you have.

I think Todd300 uses GDAK on the android platform. This might be an option for you.

I use Geosphere on my iPod Touch to track all the “paperless” info. Works great and I enjoy being able to see both simultaneously if needed.

Boy and I thought I was the only one that had misadventures while caching. I’m glad to hear I’m in good company.

I’ve been experimenting with my eTrex Legend for this. I’ve been leaving it on miles though knowing I can do the conversion prior to setting out. It seems pretty accurate based on my initial tests.

I’m hoping everyone realizes why there are holes in these posts. It’s the 4×6 posts (generally the 4×4 posts aren’t drilled) and they’re drilled so that when a vehicle hits them they snap. Yes – that’s right – it’s a designed in structural flaw to prevent more serious damage. Maybe it’s just me, but I think about this as I’m grabbing these caches and it creeps me out.

If I find it via multiple sites, do I get multiple FTF claims?
