Heard about this one just outside Denver Colorado while listening to the Podcacher Podcast this week.
1005 total caches (953 puzzles)

2. Putting your cache in one of these without informing the owner is not a very good idea at all.
“Technically” wouldn’t this violate the gc.com publication guidelines?
It sends it back to a bookmark list on GC.com. You have to use an existing (or create one) bookmark list on GC.com.
I don’t think you can do this directly, but you can do it via GSAK (or other tools that can manipulate a GPX file).
Steps:
1) Open the bookmark list and use the “Create Pocket Query” option. This will build a PQ based on the bookmark list.
2) Run the PQ and download the results
3) Import the results into a new database within GSAK (or equivalent).
4) Use the “Add to Bookmark” option to add these caches to a bookmark list that belongs to you.Somebody got a pretty good deal for a starter kayak setup.
Great to see another cacher here from my normal stomping grounds (i.e. Working in Neenah and travel through Oshkosh twice daily on my to/from work).
I actually really like the concept as a potential replacement for virtuals, but I think it’s missing one important aspect which is a coordinate verifier. Similar to Munzee and Sighter which require the user to be within a specific “zone” for the find to trigger in conjunction with the validation code.
What’s the biggest complaint about virtuals? Armchair logging obviously. How do you fix that? Force a coordinate check via the GPS in the smartphone. I know it’s a bit different than traditional caching, but it’s a compromise to bring back something that everyone seemed to like.
As for “Lab” caches. I like the concept because it gives GC.com a chance to try before the implementation and get feedback from the community which is a great idea. They get the chance to throw something out there and see what people think without being totally committed to it.

I just went by that pizza place on Highway 44 on the way to Green Lake. They have the best pizza.
Christiano’s (Green Lake, Wautoma, Oshkosh)

No points given to it….I wonder if that has anything to do with the dong lyrics.
Another diversion from what I should have been working on tonight. Solved, but it wasn’t easy for me.
I’ve been quieting watching the suggestions unfold and while I’ve heard some I agree with and some, some I’m neutral on, and others I’m not a fan of I can’t help but compare this theory to the LCG prizes.
Back in the day the WGA was going to award “things” to the top scorers in this WGA sponsored activity to promote the upkeep of caches in WI. While the game has remained and is a vital portion of the work the WGA does (i.e. it does a fantastic job of keeping caches “fresh” in the state), the “award” portion has gone the way of the buffalo. I don’t know the details, but I can only assume this happened because of lack of funds and the administrative challenges that go with it.
If we use the LCG as a comparison to what we’re talking about for SP caches, how would the concept / administration be any different to address whatever challenges caused the LCG to lose it’s “awards”.

Valley – Need to work on the cache page though.
Finding = No
Placing = YesWe didn’t do it in the winte, but in June (2010) and what an absolute blast. The water definately felt icy enough and was very welcome on a warm and very buggy day. Definately a memorable caching day for multiple reasons. Just added a “favorite point” (one of those retro favorite points because of when we did this)
Congratulations Brian. Your ears must have been burning this weekend as I was just talking to the host of the Solstice event that you were close to this milestone, but hadn’t logged it last time I checked.
You definately do it your own way and it’s been my pleasure to cache with you a number of times and watch the magic happen. I also cache with my dad on occasion and can appreciate the great memories of these outings. It’s great that you and your dad get to share these experiences together.
Congrats on the milestone and nice to chat a while also at the event.
