I know I’ve had much better luck using Google / Bing map for coords than my smartphone. Besides this makes it easier for some cachers to locate it.
On a more serious note – I agree 100% with the reviewer note requirement. This should help with some of the questionable placements I’ve seen recently also.

Sloughfoot,
if you get nobody closer that wants Omro and Butte des Mort, send ’em my way. I would be happy to take these on.
I don’t want to be the owner of these (I have enough I’m officially responsible for), but would be willing to help assist with some maintenance if needed.
Awesome. Congratulations on another milestone. The ice cream stop sound delicious too.
Congratulations. I think we need to have a “strategy session” and I’ll buy. This is one of the area puzzles giving me fits.
Congratulations. That looks like an awesome cache to take the kids to.
Congratulations on the momentous milestone.

That’s awesome. It’s always great to follow your adventures and the photos make it even more fun.

We ended up getting 8 of them. we did not change the way we cache, don’t really care about them
I actually cached less to avoid them when possible. I think I’ve only got 4 so far and wish I could make it 0. I actually avoided reaching my 2K milestone this month simply because I didn’t want this useless crud attached to the milestone day.
The devaluation of the whole concept just grinds on me. This seems to cater to the changing demographics of the game though. It’s all about the numbers, stats, etc. and no longer about the experience.
Considering the nature of caching, I don’t think I’d recommend an inflatable. Thinking about the caches I’ve canoed or kayaked to, I don’t think it would take long before you’d have a hole that you’re patching.
Every year it seems like Menards runs their entry level kayaks on sale in the springtime for around $150. This includes the paddle ($30 ish). If you can time it with the 11% rebate you can bring the total price down to around $130. This is an “each” price and I’m assuming you’d probably want 2, but still a pretty good deal for an entry into the kayak market. I bought one of these to have as a 2nd kayak and they’re perfect for the occasional use, but durable enough to last and hold up against gravel, reeds, etc.

Has anyone else noticed that most are not dating the paper logs in the caches. Never noticed that much till this month.
Interesting point, but I believe the “rules” only state that you have to sign the log. I don’t believe the “rules” require it to be dated. In fact I don’t even think the “rules” say that you should claim it as found on the day you found it.
I’m not trying to start an argument / debate on the gc.com rules, but just stating that some things we make assumptions about may simply be assumptions / conventions that have nothing to do with the rules at all.
I’d probably disable my own caches prior to something like this to slow the incoming messages.
Also – most email providers offer some kind of rule setup so you can pre-filter all the emails and not even see them show up in your account or shuffle them to some other folder. I’ve been experimenting with this to put all the “Found” logs in one folder and all others for my caches in a separate folder to quickly find the DNF’s vs Found emails.

I think it dilutes the whole concept of souvenirs unless they’re going to group them or something on the stats page for this. It irritates me to the point I don’t want to cache because I don’t want them in my list. It ranks right up there with the “challenge” idea they had a while ago which was just plain silly.
ARGGGGHHH!!! So I’m a hypocrite. I found a cache at lunch time today.

Just a thought, but perhaps those working on these “tougher” challenges could post notes about their progress to the cache listings. That way the CO’s would get to experience the fun of the adventure as it unfolds also.
Just thinking about “Multi State Traveler Challenge Cache” GC3DX78 where I know some cachers are adding logs when additional states (above / beyond) the requirement are attained. This same theory could be applied as people are working towards the goal.
