I just spent some time on various pieces of the Baird Creek trail system. Haven’t logged those puzzle finals yet, but it’s a very nice trail. Unfortunately my track log won’t do you much good unless you’re looking for some puzzle finals.
I did find this on mapmyfitness.com though. It appears to allow export to GPX files, but I’ve never tried it.
http://www.mapmyride.com/us/green-bay-wi/bairds-creek-matts-house-route-36751126I’m assuming these caches are published on gc.com which states
You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to ensure it is in proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.), or posts a Needs Maintenance log.

Based on this my opinion would be “Probably not.”, but if a good argument was logged it may sway my opinion.
I’m also not sure if you’re talking an “official” event, or just a friendly get together. My understanding is that official events can’t be for the purpose of caching, but I’m not sure about maintenance of caches. Perhaps the reviewers can weigh in and provide some insight though.
I understand the challenges of getting maps to work within the framework you’re working with. The map functions exactly as it should, so from a technical perspective it appears to be good. Unfortunately I’m not a fan of this style map, but it doesn’t matter too much as I’m not playing the LCG any longer.
An alternative though which I found to work better for my preferences is to convert the public bookmark to a PQ and then use the GC.com mapping feature for the PQ. This has the added benefit of showing me exactly which caches I’ve done and which ones I haven’t done.
Just my opinion – but it appears that “numbers” are more appealing than “experience / exploration”. The terms are in quotes simply because some people will make the argument that a numbers run is an experience all it’s own (and I would agree to some degree).
Thinking about it a bit, I think a person could burn about the same amount of gas (and wear/tear) by doing a long drive through northern, western, southwestern WI as driving around metro West Bend for a full day. Certainly a metro power run will get you more numbers, but the long drive would allow you to have a conversation, listen to an audiobook, explore other areas, etc along with counties and pages for various challenges. The “trip” would require a little bit of planning also, which could a bit of an influence also.
Congratulations on the 1K milestone. I was just past this landing on Saturday as someone asked me about it after I mentioned it and they didn’t believe it was there. Definately a great series to choose a portion of for a milestone.
I’ve only done a portion of the series so far, but really like the series concept so I’ll offer to take the 2 closest to me
GCV1CJ – Berlin Riverside Park : Trail of the serpent
GCV3P8 – Eureka! : Trail of the serpentSuccess!
Whoohoo! Yipee! uh-huh, uh-huh! w00t! Yeah, baby!
Now, go get it!
You need to follow the entire directions for this puzzle. There are multiple steps involved and what you describe is only one step of the process.
I haven’t solved these (nor looked at them before now), but the hints provided for 2 of them provide great insight into the method for solving. My first suggestion is “googling” the hints.
Just to clarify in case anyone is curious. The old rule stated:
10. Lonely cache reports must be submitted within 7 days of the find/attempt/adoption to eligible to score points. Reports submitted after this time period may be approved but will count for no (0) points.

Thank goodness you didn’t have to wait while someone checked your oil, washed your window, took cash inside to make change, said welcome / thank you, etc. 😉
I don’t know Ed, but I think the way you listed might be faster. Because what you need to factor into the first scenario is the 20 seconds or so that lapses between each question because you thought the last question was the last. And when it doesn’t begin fueling, then you first figure out there is yet another question. Some may be quicker than I, but I think it takes my brain 20 seconds to figure out the questions are not finished.
And why when there are 4 buttons on each side of the screen do they move the Yes / No around and also switch them from one side to the other. Oh wait – I know why. Because If I say “No” to the “Carwash?” question the next question is “Receipt?” and many times I hit “No” by mistake and screw myself out of the receipt.

I have a Legend and it uses a standard mini-usb plug. I’ve picked up a number of these standard cables over the years from various “appliances”. I’ve also bought a couple at the local dollar store for $1 each. Thinking this might be a quick score at the local dollar store for you if this is the type of cable you’re looking for.
I know the Garmin OEM version of the cable comes with the noise reducer built into it, but I’ve never had a problem with the off the shelf usb cables.
I use Geosphere on the iPhone to do this all the time utilizing their “Group” feature. I also use GSAK on the PC to do this. I don’t see a way to do it directly on the GC.com website.
Todd is onto something. You could set up a notification set in the specific area and then use email filtering rules searching for the cachers specific ID in the text. All non-matches could be immediately filed to the deleted items in your email account.
What can I say, besides congratulations. Oh, but wait. 1000 ?’s. Now there’s an accomplishment that I can get really excited about.
May I suggest:
The 15% Challenge (GC2NFB2) also in Illinois, but you’d grab the #4 spot based on your current stats, putting 2 Wisconsinites in the top 4 spots.
The 1K Puzzle Club Challenge (GC3CCRR) in the Minneapolis area. -
