Same for me using:
http://www.rcn.montana.edu/resources/tools/coordinates.aspx?nav=11Where’s the film crew when you need them? 😆 😆
Congrats on a great milestone cache. I was fortunate to do this one before the “increase” and it’s definately a fun urban cache.
500 x 😀
Congratulation and after last weeks CITO event I can now associate a real body with these smiley faces.
I have a mapping tool that I’ve been building using the Google Maps API. It basically maps the 0.1 mile exclusion area around physical waypoints. The two images below are from a quick first pass at the Bong area. If you think this would be helpful for other cache placements out here let me know and I can generate additional views.
It is a “programmers tool” at this point, but available on web on my personal site. If you’re interested in playing with it interactively (which allows zoom in / out, hover over to get cache name, change map type, etc.) let me know via PM and I’ll provide the website and directions on how to use it.
Congratulations and 1000 x 😀 . A very cool choice for a milestone that forced me to stay up way too late last night looking up more and more caches and more and more maps to figure out where some of these places are.
Congratulations on another milestone.
Holy crud – That’s my cache and I missed the milestone. My sincere apologies to HuffinPuffin2. I was so wrapped up in reading the great storyline that I missed the milestone. Way to go.
I’m going to echo BakRdz by just saying “Another Milestone?” Congrats and a pre-emptive on the next one (it’s just easier).
Awesome – congratulations on yet another milestone.
Great questions and exactly why the WGA and it’s members are here. There are no dumb questions and don’t feel intimidated for asking anything here. There’s a great group of people always willing to help.
As for the geomate jr device – I looked at it for my kids but thought it was too restrictive and didn’t lend itself well to updates (but that was also 6 months ago so maybe things have changed).
I use an ETrex Legend HCx and it does all the basics (as well as some advanced features). It allows me to bulk download waypoints as well as hand enter in the field for multi’s, the one ups, the FTF’s, etc. If you’re a premium member the pocket queries load pretty easy without too many hoops. Otherwise you can also download cache by cache from the cache page (assuming you have a premium membership). I would definately recommend spending the ~$30 / year for this as it really makes things easier. I’ve been very pleased with the value (~$200 for mine last year) that I’ve gotten out of the Extrex. It’s not high end, but works really well. My only suggestion is to ensure it has expandable memory.
I also just recently added an iTouch to my caching gear (after 400 caches) to start doing paperless caching.
Gear really depends on how much you want to spend and how many bells / whistles you want. Feel free to ask more questions and I’m sure others while chime in as well.
If you’re interested in “keeping up” with the action, check out the “Recent Logs” link on the left hand column. It’ll allow you to see who’s logging what and you can jump to the logs from here. I know HuffinPuffin2 writes some awesome logs and so does Sandlanders. I try my best but these two write like professionals and Sandlanders are also good for many pictures.
Thanks to everyone else here – I just put 2 + 2 together and got 4. You’re the CO of that cache I got soaked on a few weeks ago getting FTF. Awesome. I’m glad to see some other caches appearing along this trail. It’s a great area for biking, walking, taking the dog, the kids, etc.
Welcome to a wonderful sport and also to a great organization that promotes the activity.
Congratulations. What a great idea for a memorable milestone.
Congratulations on #900. Only 100 more until you’re in that elite club.
