Sorry… I was editing my last post when you were posting. Read the addition.
You may be right. I may be reading Article IX incorrectly. If so, Mia culpa.
No hard feelings. Just trying to clarify. I’ve been on various boards in the past and at times it can be a thankless job. For the record – I think the WGA and board is doing a good job from what I’ve seen over the 9 months that I’ve been a member.

I believe that article is refering to WGA Board members only…
http://wi-geocaching.com/modules.php?name=Wiki&pagename=BylawsI interpret it a little differently, considering it says “any member”. “Article III: Membership” on the same page discusses general membership, therefore I assumed member refers to general members and Board referes to the Board as a collective body. Considering a Board member is also a general member, they could be disciplined under the same rules as a general member (because they’re both members). I’d be a little surprised if there wasn’t a policy covering the misconduct of general members.

Nicely worded Alex. I think this post, above all the others, conveys your feeling very well. But….
I have to take exception to one, single line.I am saddened by the knowledge that these destructive practices were not acknowledged by a body we elected to monitor the sport in Wisconsin.
Where is it said that the WGA as an organization, or the WGA board is expected to “monitor the sport”? I did not become a board member to monitor the playground.
I will publicly state that I don’t particulary care for the sharing of puzzle or multi-cache coordinates. But, that is just me as an individual and not as a board member.
Not to steal the thread, and feel free to move this or start a new one, but I disagree 100%. According to my interpretation of the by-laws the board is responsible for disciplinary actions when those “actions are deemed to run counter to the best interests of the WGA”. I would consider freely giving out final coordinates to run counter to the interests of the WGA as being unethical (although not technically against the “stated” rules given to us by the head frog(s) at Groundspeak).
Article IX: Disciplinary Action
As determined by the Board, any member whose actions are deemed to run counter to the best interests of the WGA shall be subject to disciplinary action. Any action taken shall be with a two-thirds vote of the Board. Disciplinary actions that may be taken include removal from the Board or the revocation of membership.Should the Board feel that disciplinary action is necessary, the Board will schedule a vote and contact the member to be disciplined to ensure that the member can have an opportunity to speak in his or her defense if he or she so chooses. There is no appeal process.
Congratulations team Sandlanders. This is definately a “lucky” spot with 2 winners now. It was also great to take a break from work and meet up for lunch. Definately another great aspect of the sport.
I’ll take the GIZ GREEN (GC128W1) location if it’s not spoken for.
03/27/2010 at 11:11 am in reply to: Hot Tamales! CodeJunkie Stamps (or is it stomps?) to Nbr 400 #1925895I’ve finally caught my breath enough to post the promised followup. First off, I want to thank everyone for the congratulations, support and comaraderie here in the forums. You’re all a great group of people.

Definately something new and unique and now something my girls are excited about. Something else we can now do as a family.

What will you do when all the icons have been used for milestones… run through them all again?
I’ve been fortunate so far, but there are some that may be tough to coordinate. We’ll see what happens, but it’s been a fun way to pick some very unique milestones.

I would have guessed you’d be in the 1,000 club by now, but that’s just because I see your logs on so many puzzle caches on our watchlist!!!
49 seldom|seen caches completed which puts Alex on the top of my “finds by owner” list. 49? π― π π― π Yeh – that explains it considering each one was individually solved.

I love living vicariously…enjoyed your log.
I’m not a great writer (paling in comparison to HuffinPuffin2, Sandlanders, etc.) but do enjoy retelling the whole story to the best of my ability. This has been tough in cases though because many times I just didn’t want to spoil a great puzzle.

Well done, and I too thought you’d be far beyond that number. There’s a cache container on the workbench with the note “CJ’s 500th” on it. Putting that one together, in and of itself, almost makes me want to stick around a little longer, at least long enough to get that one out.
Sorry folks – I’ve now slowed my pace just to keep S|S around. I may have to quit logging online at 499 just to keep this great puzzler involved. If that happens I’ll just start logging via a blog. π
On a seriouse side – This sounds like an awesome “throwdown”. I better get busy caching.@BakRdz wrote:
Do we need to hold an Event so you can do #500?
And then you’d publish one or two the night before within a few miles of my home just to taunt me. πΏ The Lost Civilization of Koro still gets me smiling every day as I drive past it knowing I opened it and didn’t sign the log to avoid screwing up special #300 (which was also puzzle #100)

Looking forward to more caching adventures with you and more great logs from you.
The CodeRdz team has had some great experiences and one in particular that has now been archived.
And as long as you keep putting out the BakRdz camo, you’re sure to get plenty of “funny” DNF logs from me.

I just hit 400 too! Does that make us twins from different mothers?
UMMMM. NO! That would mean I’d have to be related to BakRdz. If that’s going to happen I’m going to insist on a paternity test. π

Good to see your Historic series is spoken for. Also very fitting that the tributee of the ZΓΒΆe Bro Coup cache series got that one. But, shouldn’t 2 ol Farts have been handed the reigns to Gaylord a while back? Or did they not follow through as my partner did not on the final?
Gaylord Nelson will be well cared for …
03/26/2010 at 11:49 am in reply to: Hot Tamales! CodeJunkie Stamps (or is it stomps?) to Nbr 400 #1925893I just want everyone to know that I will be posting a “comment” to your kind remarks later this weekend. It’s been a wild week of cache adoptions, work, preparing to publish some new caches, etc. I definately enjoy the comments and will post a followup, but give me a day or two to finish collecting my thoughts (and breath).
A bittersweet day today as I complete the S|S series that got me hooked on puzzles turning me into a PuzzleJunkie and took over watch duty on the same series for the legend.
Logging the final for this series caused a few tears because of the great memories and the great mentoring provided by S|S.
Yep – Puzzles definately add a unique twist to the whole game. I have almost 50 puzzles on the “Solved / Unfound” pile. Some of these I’ll probably never get to (like the one in AZ), but who knows. I firmly expect some to get archived before I find them, but that comes with the territory.
I just try to enjoy the puzzle, learn a little something, and move on. I’ve also logged a couple of notes for puzzles that state I’ve solved it, but don’t know if I’ll ever get the opportunity to solve. Numbers / Smileys are nice, but they aren’t the end of the world.
It’s an unfortunate event, but remember there are very few rules and mostly everyone treats each other with respect. As in anything in life there are always a few situations that just don’t go as we planned, hoped, or thought they should.

Next thing I knew it was archived with no other responces. All that work wasted and the pride in seeing correct on the geo checker is all for not.
I’ve had the same thing happen with a number of puzzles and it’s unfortunate. It happens and sometimes there’s just nothing that can be done about it.
I’ve been in a couple of similar scenarios, but the CO’s have always been upfront / honest with me. In one case I did a replacement, in one the CO was with me and we couldn’t find it, and in another the CO arranged for a replacement to get put out by his trail boss.
I would only assume that if the CO was communicating that they would be upfront / honest about any potential issues you may run into. That’s only proper courtesy.
I’ve also had occurences where I’ve been unable to get a response from the CO. These cases become “cacher beware” and potential “Needs Maintenance” or “Archive” logs are applicable.
I’m going on record as a knight defending the Kingdom of Sellzup and will do my part to uphold the tradition of chivalry (i.e. upholding the intent of the CO / cache to the best of your ability).
If you’re interested in joining me, please post back to this thread pledging your allegiance to the code of chivalry to show our solidarity as fellow knights defending the Kingdom.
This is a sad day for the kingdom. I have sent a PM regarding caches, but wanted to publicly state that I’m a huge fan.
It was the Laughing Water series in Menasha that were on the LCG when I first started caching that got me interested in puzzles. These were great caches and so have the rest of your caches that I’ve done. I’ve been frustrated at times, but never disappointed in the learning opportunities, the help you’ve provided (even after multiple emails), etc. You’re a great asset to the land of Selzzup and I’d hate to see you leave.

Really strange story. Been reading it for over a year, and still have some 250 pages to go!
Slightly off topic – but I do most of my books in the car (on CD) while driving. Just looked this one up – 38 CD’s which is longer than my longest book of 28 CD’s (Non-Fiction – Collapse: how societies choose to fail or succeed – Diamond, Jared) which would also be appropriate to the discussion however.
