Sold!!!
Good of you Decdogg to remain honest and return the mystery object to it’s rightful owner. It would have been very easy for you to pocket your unofficial “find”.
I’ve got to admit tho, I too am curious as to what it was!!
Hoppe2FindYou,
I’m going to suggest that you do NOT use “Hope2FindYou” either, since you’ve announced that you want to use it on a public forum. It might give your stalker another way of keeping an eye on you.
I’d suggest that when you change your name, don’t tell anyone except your closest geo-friends what your new “handle” is…via private message on here.

I maintain two bookmarks for cemetery caches in Wisconsin – those with WSQ in the title, and those without it. (And there are probably some out there I’m not aware of).
This week the combined total went over 700.
These caches offer a fascinating view of Wisconsin. First, the drive to them are down country roads. Then, the settings, the wide variety of headstones, the different veteran flag holders, the names and phrases engraved on the stone, etc – they all offer a great historical view of our ancestors.
If you like unique-looking headstones, check out this cemetery cache (GC1724K). 100 or so yards to the southeast of this cache you will find a headstone with a motorcycle pictured on the back of it. When you do, you will have found my brother and his late wife. This cemetery is only one mile from my home.
Not sdure where you live, or how far you’d be willing to drive, but I know for a fact that the Cabela’s mega store outside of Richfield WI has tents like those. I have no idea how much they cost, though.
When it comes to Rocky Arbor, all I can tell you is punch in the Wisconsin Dells zip code into GC.com and give each one a look-see to see if any caches are listed in Rocky Arbor.
However, before you go, I would definitely call ahead to find out the status of site availability post-flooding. Other than a few showers here and there, I think pretty much the entire southern half of Wisconsin has dried out enough to resume camping, but you won’t want to drive up there on a whim just to find out that they’re booked solid…or still closed. If they are open, chances are that the only sites still available are the “non-reservable” sites. These are sites that are set aside for drive ups that don’t have reservations…or exactly what you would be considered to be. Unfortunately these sites are most often the least favorable sites, due to their location within the park and their proximity to certain amenities, such as bath/shower houses, main buildings, electricity and/or water, etc. hook ups.
Good luck with both your camping and caching plans; I hope you have a great time.
I too have joked about this being an “addiction”, but I know that’s not necessarily true…at least not for me. I will think about different caches from time to time, if I’m driving by them or whatever, but it’s not as if I’m laying awake at night thinking of a particular DNF and wondering what I might have missed.
However, I do find myself watching the weather forecasts and looking at the family calendar, wondering if we’ll have an opportunity to go hunting when the weekend comes, and if that makes me an “addict”, so be it.
I’m new here so I don’t know either Bob or Bonnie, but I can relate to Bob’s condition. A year and a half ago (Christmas of 2006) I landed in St. Luke’s hospital in Milwaukee after having chest pains. I had a mild heart attack at about 4 AM, and underwent a quintuple bypass at 10 AM. The cardiologist told my wife that if she hadn’t gotten me into the ER the night before, that I never would have woke up the next morning!! I feel much better now, eventhough I wish I could lose more weight.
Pay attention to what everyone else says, Bob. Especially your doctor!! Take your meds, do your excercises, and don’t over-do anything for a while!! And remember, the hiking you do during caching qualifies as aerobic excercise!!!!
Take care and feel free to PM me if you have questions or need any encouragement.
I’ve never understood the “need” to be the FTF. Pardon my forwardness, but it seems pretty arrogant if you ask me. Personally, unless the owner reveals that there is something of pretty decent value within a cache, I don’t really care where my name lands in the log.
Mosquitoes don’t exist is urban areas??? Well then, someone should tell that to the billions of skeeters my son and I encountered right here in town alongside the creek that passes through Hartford, because we got chewed up like crazy!!
I’m new here and I’m still learning some of the rules and/or caching etiquette stuff, but I’ll say that the person who left the Altoids container made a HUGE mistake.
Just because he/she was unable to locate the actual container is no reason to assume that the original one went missing and to create his/her own…even if he/she was trying to be “nice”. IMO it was wrong. Unfortunately, caching is kind of it’s own little world and there are no other examples in the world that I can think of to compare etitquette type stuff to.
I’m guessing that the person who placed the “replacement” container was a noob, who didn’t know the rules. He/she should have simply chalked it up as a DNF after several minutes, and should have been sure to log it that way, regardless of the circumstances.
Just as an example, I live here in Hartford, and we’ve had a lot of flooding of the Rubicon River that flows all the way through town. There are at least two caches that I know of along that river, and one has already been temporarily disabled by the owner due to the flooding. The other still might be there, but then again maybe not, since I don’t think anyone has logged it as a find since the flooding occured.
So do I go to that area, give it a decent chance, and then just leave another container if I can’t find it??? Of course not, because the original might very well still be there. As far as I’m concerned, if I can’t find it I’m still going to assume that the container is there…I just didn’t find it, and I’ll be sure to log it as a DNF. but for someone to place another container just because they’re too proud to log a DNF is ridiculous if you ask me.
See? I knew that there had to be a ridiculously easy answer to my question. I just had no idea where to begin looking. Thanks to all of you for your guidance!! Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July!!!!!!!
As long as we’re talking about who we’ve cached with, I guess I’ll put the word out: if there is anyone out there who’s looking to cache with someone, and doesn’t mind hanging out with a “noob” and his 9 year old son for a few hours, feel free to PM me and maybe we can set something up. I certainly have no problem with meeting new people. In fact, I’d really look forward to it. You can never have enough friends, ya know??
We’re relatively new to this. I basically got into it as a way for my oldest son and I to spend some time together, hoping that it will bring us closer. My wife and our youngest son jonied us for one event thing in West Bend a few weeks back, but when she took a digger stepping on some uneven terrain, I think she’ll be happy to stay home with the little guy while our oldest and I do the caching thing. She’s not too “outdoorsy”.
That sux TyeDye. You obviously care a great deal about creating unique caches, and to have it “walk” like that after so much effort was put into it has GOT to be unbelievably frustrating.
However, I’m going to go along with Lostby7 on this one and announce that I’m glad I’ve never gotten the chance to search for it, for I too would have been extremely aggravated by the difficulty. That’s not to say that I think you went overboard with your planning and work. I’m just getting started in this activity, but I’m already in the planning stages for hiding my first cache, and I know already that it won’t be anywhere near as involved as your Nemesis. Kudos to you for your creativity.
Look at it this way: it’s because of it’s uniqueness that someone felt obliged to swipe it. Don’t let that discourage you. Continue in your quest to develop unique and extreme caches. Don’t let one muggle destroy your enthusiasm!!!!
