As of right now, the long range forecast for this coming weekend looks fabulous. I’m looking forward to going “hunting” this weekend.

If you head out, make sure to bring along plenty of mosquito and tick repellent!! With all of the standing water and moisture that is sure to hanging in the air, the mosquitoes will be out in full force!!

29406…and proud to do it. My father was also killed by a drunk driver back in 1981

Funny story!! I’ll bet he gets a lot of people with that one. I’m sure you could politely get the muggles off your back with simple flip of the bird.

I still have this unit for sale in case anyone is interested.

I’d love to, but my tentative plans are forcing me to stay closer to home. Perhaps we can plan it for the weekend after. I’ll keep in touch and maybe PM you after this coming weekend. In any event, thanks for offering.

No I did not get a reply. Your ears must’ve been ringing because I was just thinking that I might put a thread out there requesting to go caching with someone so that they could show me the ropes.

What are your plans for this weekend? I may have plans for Saturday…I’ll know for sure by Wednesday night. If my plans fall through I might be available on Saturday, but Sunday would be even more flexible. We could still meet at the Mineshaft if you feel more comfortable meeting in a public place.

Give it some thought and reply back to me. We’ll have to keep an eye on the weather as well. I may not want to head out if it’s going to be raining all weekend.

That’s great news!! I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of Pit Bulls (heard all the horror stories, you know), but I know that the people who do own them are adament about them. Hopefully things work out well for all involved.

No I didn’t. I figured I’d try this first to see if there is someone out there who could use it; maybe as a back up unit or to give as a gift or whatever. I’m going to give it a week or so and if I haven’t found a buy by then I’ll try the retailer.

I’m not in the market for a dog of any kind, but I figured I’d try to help you. Have you looked into a dog rescue organization? There are several around the state, usually catergorized by breed. I’m thinking if you Google “Pit Bull Rescue Organizations in Wisconsin” that you’d come up with something pretty quick.

These organizations work tirelessly to match up people who are looking for a specific breed of dog. They also make sure that any home the dog would be going to would be stable and that the dog would be well taken care of.

Give that a shot and I wish you luck.

I’m new to the whole geo caching thing, so I don’t know Steve or his family, but that’s not important. What is important is that this horrible tragedy could have been prevented if the State of Wisconsin would actually get tough on trunk drivers instead of just pretending to do so.

The heartfelt condolences of myself and my entire family go out to Steve and their entire extended family.

LOL! You must new to the sport. You just might want to reconsider pulling the pop up. You might save gas.

Yes you’re right, I am new to the sport. But no one is going to convince me that geocaching is as expensive as pulling a camper, along with a family of four, all of our camping gear, clothing, food, water, propane, bicycles, toys, etc. Our camper weighs 2200 pounds empty. When fully loaded to go, it can easily tip the scales at 3000 pounds. At more than $3.60/gallon for regular unleaded, our cost for gas alone will be over $130 round trip with a full tank each way.

Figure at least $50 for food, $15 dollars for ice to stock our coolers, and anywhere from $15 to $40 for a campsite (state park vs. private campground), etc., and our bill for one weekend of camping can easily run over $200.

Granted, geocaching can be an expensive sport to get into initially, but after your start up expenditures, it’s nowhere near as expensive as camping…or at least it doesn’t have to be.
