OK, discussion over.
I’m going caching.
DBSammy,
I will not lower myself to name calling even though you have opened that door.
I’m note sure the entire membership agrees with your point of view. Perhaps only the more vocal ones.
I believe when a member of an organization see an inequality that he or she feels should be righted there is an obligation to point it out to the membership and work to correct it even if folks like yourself have trouble accepting another point of view.
I think we are smaller as an organization for not looking harder at this issue.
Inviting active individuals to join our organization will add only improve our organization as a whole. When is the last time you did anything to benefit the organization or geocachig as a whole?
Thank you, I do belong to the New York and Minnesota geocaching groups.
DBYou’re missing the point but then you already have a seat in the front of the bus. DB
I believe at least one individual is starting to understand my perspective. May not agree with it but………………………..
Just FYI, “
Member: Part of an aggregate or a whole; one of the persons composing a society, community, or the like.”
“Friend: One who has esteem and regard for another and his society. One who looks with favor upon a cause, institution, or the like.”Sorry, “Friend” is like a second class citizen.
Members up front, Friends to the back of the bus.
DB
The confusion I have, and most of those posting replies also seem to have, is that to be a MEMBER of Wisconsin Geocaching Association one must be a resident of the state of Wisconsin according to the organization bylaws,
“Wisconsin resident. Your permanent residence must be in the state of Wisconsin.”
This is not true of many of the other GC organizations.
The only difference should be, from my point of view, you are a MEMBER, or a VOTING MEMBER, if you reside in Wisconsin.
All members have the same organizational rights and responsibilities except for voting members vote and hold organization office.
I believe this is true for New York and Minnesota as examples only.
Time to update and upgrade the bylaws in my opinion.
The “Friends” designation is lame.Geez thanks, Zuma.
Da Bloodhound got to act as the travel guide on the Silver Ammo Can Cache hunt. When we got to the parking area I wondered if there was a dry way across the creek. I had seen the “wading” attribute and wondered if that was “red herring.” NO, to both thoughts.
Doc followed behind DB ’cause I can blaze a pretty wide trail – sort of like my dear Friend, Zuma. LOL Finally got to just across from GZ. Doc didn’t want to ford the creek but I would. Hell, I didn’t come that far for a DNF, and I wasn’t about to melt so across I went. Doc soon followed with some noticeable protests and expletives about our mutual friend.
Bagged and tagged, it was now officially over 1000 finds for DOC.
Good work on her part and a lot faster than DB made it.
😀 😀 WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😀Doc. will be there Friday and Saturday night for camping, beer, tales of the trail and a helluva lot of laughter! Guess I’m not invited on this one.
Staying in the Ripstop Hilton on site. See ya there!!
Thanks to all that took a look at my post.
I was fortunate enough to hook up with an old caching friend from a Gauntlet run, Team Hemisphere Dancer, and acquire that damaged canoe I was seeking. Thanks, Jim
Watch for “Up The Creek Withoutapaddle” coming to a geocache list near you soon.
DBNow that I understand the front looks more like a landing craft. LOL Please let me know if the back looks like a”normal” canoe (ie not square backed) I can use that for what I have dreamed up. Appreciate you getting back to me. If you are going to be at the cabin over the weekend let me know and I’ll check with the social director about driving over. DB
As long as there seems to be a growing sentiment for reviewing and revising the WGA logo you can add my name to that list. The original, though a classic, needs to be updated and “professionalized” (if that’s a word)
Any commercial graphic artists in the group that would like to take this on? I’m sure the new ideas would come fast and furious once this process starts.I believe in all the letters and postings I read I did not see one extolling the benefits of working with local and state geocaching enthusiasts and elected representatives for the benefit of local parks. I believe pointing out history of park and natural area clean up events may be an important tool in changing Park official opinions. It isn’t always about the almighty buck. DB
Hey Honey Bunnies-
GREAT job on finishing the book. That is no small accomplishment, for sure.
Good luck on finding the FINAL mystery cache.
I was with our mutual friend Zuma when he was first to finish all the pages – but perhaps we shouldn’t go there. Achilles still aches – but we scored the find before heading to the ER. LOL
Good Caching,
Da Bloodhound and DOC. 😉My idea for the campout tee shirt is this:
picture a lush pasture area with several Holsteins contently grazing. Dotting the lush grass are a large number of manure piles. Off to the side of this picture are two cachers intent on the read out of their GPSr. One cacher is “heard” saying to the other, “You BETTER be right on this one.”
What better to portray our great State of Wisconsin than dairy cows and enthusiastic cachers with their GPSr?Good Job on the CITO of the ammo can.
Common sense for placement seems to rule out the spot you found it. I saw a magnetic “DANGER” sign on a power transmission tower once with a log on the back. That was acceptable in my mind but the box should be a no-no there.
Rehide soon as Zuma needs more FTFs for his list. LOL
Good caching, Da Bloodhound -
