Ok… here’s my two cents… who cares if people log an event once or if they log every temp they find? There is no prize to be the one with the most logs. There is no title to go with the finds. Geocaching is just to have some fun. If it is more fun for people to sit in front of the computer and log each temporary find… good for them. It has absolutely no effect on me or anyone else for that matter. If people have just as much fun logging the event once and not logging temporary finds, that is just peachy keen too. Again… it has no effect on me what so ever. So do we really have to bring this up yet again? Now, if we really want to have a meaningful discussion… why do some people mow their lawns in straight lines, some in diagonals and some just go around and around the perimeter until there is nothing left to mow. I, for example, make sure that I never mow the grass in the same way twice. Today I was making figure eights and star patterns in the lawn. Do I say that everyone should do what I do? No. But I got my lawn mowed just the same… and I had fun doing it to. Sounds a little like geocaching… doesn’t it?

I finally found time to read the directions to the new camera and got the pictures downloaded. Take a peek at the new pics in the picnic album.

In my opinion (which I know means nothing), if an event is going to have caches, it should have a relatively large number of them. I know that I personally do not log temporary caches, but it is a bit disheartening when you go to an event with the anticipation of finding some fun caches in unusual containers and cleverly hidden and then to find that there are so few caches that whenever you approach the coordinates you find a group of 20 or so people just passing the stamp around. What fun is that? There is no challenge in passing the stamp. Where was it hidden? What type of container was it? You can say “play the finders tree”, but that doesn’t work when there is such a large number of people. At the last even, I made sure that the caches I placed were far enough apart and that you could not see one location from the next. I figured it would give people enough time to retrieve the cache and replace it before the next group came along… I know there were problems with one cache, but I can’t control when the rangers decide to cut a tree down. Maybe the solution would be to have different sets of caches and alternate which set gets handed out. So if there were 30 temporaries set up, break it into three sets of 10 caches and let people choose which of the three sets they would like to do or just hand them out randomly. Then there would be more time for socializing and yet people would not be grouped together. Just some food for though.

Wonderful!!! it works just fine now. Let’s see… if I go here, then slide over to there, and then back up here… What do you mean my boss is on the phone?!? Tell her I’m busy! 😛

Yeah!!! Another reason to go visit the bears in Chippewa Falls, Irvine Park. Those guys are just so darn cute! 😀

    That’s good to hear.

❓ I was just wondering…. are the people who are not responding to e-mails and such about their disabled caches placing new ones without taking care of the ones they already have? Would it be fair to say these people should not be allowed to place, or at least have a new cache approved, until they fix the ones they are ignoring?

I don’t want to start a war here. I don’t even know if these people are indeed placing new caches. I was just wondering.

Fine with me… that means that I’ll get to find another cache as opposed to a box on a table. 😀

Have you tried vinegar? I use it to clean animal cages… it might work with this too.

Is the GPSr set up to receive via a usb cable or some other method. I know I had problems with my 60CS the first time because the setting was wrong.

Do you think Condella has anything to do with this?

in reply to: Wisconsin State Fair Grounds – caches? #1764295

There are no caches on the fair grounds. Probably because you have to pay to get into anything there and there is always something going on. There are pleanty of caches in the area though. If you go to the geocaching.com website and use the hide/seek cache option and use the coordinates of N 43 01.288 W 88 00.814 … you will get the list of caches closest to State Fair Park. Hope this helps. Have fun at the fair.

In my humble opinion… it really doesn’t matter. Take a look at the list of what people are bringing and if you see too many desserts, bring a side dish or something to snack on… if there are too many snacks, bring dessert, etc. There isn’t a guard on duty saying that if you don’t bring what you were supposed to based on your name, you can’t come. It’s all for fun! So bring what ever you want.

    Just my two cents.
