The Geocache Purist will always look for “Caching the way it used to be”. Originals, whether they be Paintings, or Geocaches, hold more significance to a select few than they ever will to the masses. Not everyone who has a painting feels they MUST have an Original, a Print will suit them just fine. The same is true for Caches. Not all Cachers feel like they must seek only “Original Type” caches. These cachers can just as easily be satisfied with a “Print” type variety. Are they wrong for taking this approach to caching? No, not if that is the experience they find satisfying. There is enough variety out there to suit everyone, without eliminating options for anyone! Personally, I like a Mix. Lucky for me, I don’t have to choose. I can just do them ALL!!

Congratulations Brian! Glad you made the 1000 milestone this weekend at the Way Up Nord Event!!

Thanks BunnyFuFu for the Congrats!! Had talked to the family down there about caching before, but they never got the concept. This time I took them to do a couple of caches and they Loved It!! Wouldn’t be too surprised to see them with a GPS the next time I go down!! It’s NOT the typical/usual thing people do with their spare time which is why I think they liked it so much. OK FuFu, I’ve been slowing down, stopping is probably not a real option, so if you’re gonna make a run now, you’ve gotta pick up the pace!!

It seems fairly well divided down the middle for those that want to log multiple finds at Events, and those that don’t. The good thing is, the WGA can make both sides happy by NOT implementing a rule that clearly half the members don’t like. Those that do not want to record Multiple finds can do just that, those that want to, can. My biggest concern with making such a rule would be that many of those cachers that like logging the numbers, come to Events so they can increase their finds quickly. Take that away from them, and many will NOT show up at Events any more. When that occurs, what have you really accomplished? I think someone else mentioned it already, but “What’s the purpose of an Event anyhow”? To Socalize? Cache? or Both? If it’s simply to Socalize, then don’t have Temp Caches. If it’s to Cache & Socalize, then not allowing finds to be recorded seems counterproductive to me. Obviously my vote is to allow finds to be recorded if a cacher wants to. What’s it really hurting?

Thanks BunnyFuFu, it was a pleasure getting to 400 with you there to celebrate with me!! I’ll be working on some Multi’s for awhile, so NOW is your chance to get caught up with me!! Hey, BTW, What’s is like having a brain now?? LOL

Thanks to all my friends, and thanks to you BunnyFuFu too!! LOL Come a long way in a little over a year!! My goal now is adding more states I’ve cached in. Just added Kentucky this weekend. That makes (7)!! Other goals are a CITO Event Cache, an APE Cache and to log a Moun10Bike Geocoin. See there is one passing around in Caches in New Zealand!! What other excuse could one have for going there?? LOL Da Fu is fast approaching her 200 Cache milestone! Won’t be long now for her!!

in reply to: Why so many, why so tricky? #1749808

I try to keep a balance in my cache finds. It’s always been my goal to have 25% as many Multi-Stage cache finds as single stage finds. I do that because I like the challenge and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with completing the more challenging caches. It’s actually very easy when you want to go seek a cache, to look and see if you’re interested in it or not. If doesn’t fit your tastes, then ignore it and move to the next one. There is such variety out there, especially in Wisconsin, that you can find just about any kind of challenge you like. If you cache outside this state, you’ll soon discover how good the caching is in this state. I would never discourage any cacher from placing whatever kind of cache he/she would like to place, where ever they may want to place it. Doing so, may just eliminate the placement of another one of the GREAT ones. I would say keep up the good work WI-Geocachers, you really are the BEST.
