my cache was approved by paul k after i sent in the form. something like a 3 day turnaround. i think their biggest reason for wanting these filled out is just so they know that there are caches hidden in these parks. i don’t think they are going to be really picky on the locations.
and flapping about this among ourselves is not going to accomplish anything. you can contact the parks department and talk to them before they make this thing official.

i’ve got one placed in a county park. i filled out the form and am waiting to get it ok’d. if the guy isn’t too busy, i figure i’ll hear back sometime this week.

Paul told me in an email that they wanted to get the policy up on their web page, but something had slowed it down. there may still be changes, but for right now, this is what there is.

if you’d like to cache in the waupun area, maybe we could plan something for a saturday in may or june. mark would love it if i could find a new caching buddy so he can go fishing instead.

ottowa lake campground is a great state park. reservations can be made thru reserve america. due south from oconomowoc on hwy 67, maybe 15 miles. part of the southern kettle morraine. has a nice lake to paddle around in or fish or swim. open campsites or alongside the woods. there is also pine woods in the area. lots of caches nearby.

i tend to log the dnf’s. i figure it helps the next person know that the cache is hard to find. if i like the area, i might go back and look again. if it’s the type of cache that is same old same old, or too public for my tastes, i’ll bookmark it to my ignore list.

i think i probably deleted at least 100 temps, probably more. the first ones hurt, but once i got to where i really had the 1000 in sight, it was easier to do. and really, it’s just a number.

in reply to: goals for 2007 #1872556

my second goal is nearly complete. early last year, when i decided to stop logging temp finds, i said to a few people that i wanted to delete all the temp finds i had already logged. last nite i edited a few logs to reflect this change. later today i am hoping to make my 1000th unique find, and then i will delete the rest of the temps and bonus caches so my number will be “PURE”.
it’s not about the numbers for me anymore!!!!!

have you tried using gsak in ubuntu? i am reading about something called wine that lets you run windows programs in it.
i have been running off the live cd, but my wireless card doesn’t work from that. so i am in the process of installing it to my hard drive. when i left for work, it still hadn’t finished loading. i’m hoping it will be done when i get home. my other hope is that it didn’t mess up the rest of my system.

the yellow one is not a 60. i have seen the 60c advertised for around $250. but i have one that i am going to be selling for $225, includes the mapping program.

welcome to winslow, a friendly community.

    spoken for.

thanks, i’m still talking myself into the upgrade. $300 plus software is a lot to spend when i already have 3 gpsr’s, but i’m so tired of not being able to find things under heavy cloud cover. keep the comments coming
