ah, but see, shrek and fiona, you said we. i have this tentative cache hunt scheduled in the swamps near cocoa beach florida, with a local cacher. and i am just a me. and when i get there and my mom hears i am going caching with some guy i never met, she’s going to give me lots of trouble. they just never stop worrying about you. but i like the idea of getting all of his info and leaving it with the family.
I guess i hadn’t updated to that one before. it’s always a scary thing to have to do a reinstall of a program you use all the time, but haven’t loaded in ages. thanks
where is this–its not about the numbers stats–thing?
i logged that bug all year, but this year decided to retire it and save myself the time. the idea was that i would be able to read thru where i had been that year in order of caches done. but having never gone back to read it, i decided not to continue. ithink i started because i didn’t want to release the coin once i bought it.
we are doing eastern carribbean in march, on carnival. stopping in freeport bahamas, cayman island and costa maya. there doesn’t look to be any cache in costa maya, but freeport and caymans had some. thought we’d probably take our old gps and leave the good ones at home. don’t know how much time there would be for caches.
on the forth day of christmas, my true love gave to me
four solid hours of geocaching!
(and he’s sick with a cold too, sleeping now, i wore him out)if the final on this one is anything like the final on the last one, when i finally get there i’ll be sitting hitting my head against the wall. and i just finished coinquest 2. i’m 6 into coinquest 3 and pulled a 36 hour delay. but that’s ok, cuz i don’t have another cache to log at this point anyway.
but your times only matter if you are trying to finish in the top group.
i still have two caches to go on last year’s game. but i am planning on finishing it next weekend. along with hitting a few caches for this one. and it’s nice this year that you can order a coin no matter what place you finish in. at least you can if they don’t run out. i thought the code breaker coins would be great, but they were already sold out. i made the paper ones. then after logging my first two caches, i confused myself and couldn’t solve the code. took a fresh look the next day and now i have two lines solved.thanks, that’s a good start
thanks everyone. those numbers slowly creep by as we get out caching in the woods and cities. my next goal is to hit the 1000 in unique caches. my pq of finds shows it to be somewhere in the 850 range. then on to more counties and more countries!!!!
donnayeah, that’s the one i needed. didn’t realize it was a click box with different options. thanks
since we stopped logging the temp caches at events, we found the day much more relaxing. no more pressure to do as many as we could to get our count up. but we find running into people on the trail the best way to meet them. you just naturally get to talking as you walk. i don’t think it would be as easy at the base area to just start a conversation. (i’m basically shy you know) so i vote for some temps in great containers, with varying degrees of difficulty.
thanks, bec. i think that’s the option. i have 1 locationless cache, found last year.
thanks cheesehead dave. that worked great! i’ve got that route posted for anyone else to use now.
oh rats, i hate getting duped like that. sorry for posting it. but maybe it’s a good thing so everyone knows about it
i own two wisconsin geocoins. the first i activated and am using to track myself. it is never going out into the world. the seconed is still sitting in its wrapper at home. i also picked up the coin from the wga campout as a souveneer. after seeing people with books with cute little pockets for the geocoins, i decided not to release any. they are collectable. if you are trying to collect as many different coins as possible to fill your book, what does it matter if you don’t or can’t log them. no one is going to make note of all the numbers and check up on them to see if they are legitimately yours. $10 is too much to lose. my tb’s are mostly still out there, but of course some have gone missing. and mine are all attached to a block of wood, so that is not what people are keeping them for.
