I love tech toys. I got a palm tungsten T5. I can put all my geocaching on it. i can play games on it. i can listen to music or books on it. i could connect to the internet if i wanted to and could find a blue tooth access point. but if i were looking for one now, i would get one that has wi-fi capability. that blue tooth just doesn’t seem to have any usefullness to me. why just get a low end unit when you can get a nice one that does a lot of stuff. but then again, $400 might be beyond others limits.

i was just reading about how the parks system in milwaukee is going to have to cut back on services because they are way over budget. i think getting the wga involved in more cito in the parks would be a great thing to do.

in reply to: Sunday Events??? Yes or no?? #1760975

i would love to have saturday events starting later in the morning. i work till 11 at nite and having to be somewhere at the buttcrack of dawn (anything before 10am) is tough. i make the effort for geocaching, but i am not a pleasant traveling companion.
we have family obligations that prevent going to sunday events, until around 6pm.
but plan what works for you. if you offer it, they will come…..

in reply to: cachemate problem? #1741099

thanks, at first that didn’t work, but then when i clicked at the top, right where it says cachemate, i got the list option and was able to fix it.

now if only they could make the server faster. there are days when it just doesn’t pay to try to log on.

in reply to: New Cache’s popping up in Central WI #1760623

i’m hoping some of these new caches are in the Berlin area, as i’m going there in april to visit my son, and geocaching while he’s in school

in reply to: alternative to logging event temps? #1760622

even with the previous way of logging found on the event page, it still didn’t show the true count for the events themselves. i guess the only thing we can do is just bite the bullet and not log the temps, but that is soooooo hard. i may not be in it strictly for the numbers anymore, but they sure do look good on the stats page.

in reply to: What are you doing with your coins? #1760616

i bought 2 coins. the first one i activated and am using to keep track of what i do this year. it logs in and out of all caches visited. it makes my stats page a mess, but the coin page is going to be a great record. and i even log it into NF’s, just so i know i was there.

i guess i missed this thread when it first came out. what i would really like to see is separate cache from the event to log all the temp hides. something like “wga campout” and “wga campout caches” that way, we could have an accurate count of events, but still log the temp caches if we so desire.

in reply to: New Years Caching Resolutions #1760312

i haven’t decided on the event cache logging yet, but i am not going to log those pocket caches anymore. i also am going to start using the ignore list a bit more, either for caches that are harder to find than i want to invest the time in, and cemetary caches, and maybe some of the micros.

in reply to: What would happen if…… #1760651

i don’t think easy should equate with “lame”. i don’t like spending my leisure time searching a 50 foot area of the woods for a half hour or more, trying to find a cache. i do like a nice little walk in the woods, with the reward of finding the cache at the end of it. and the woods don’t natter. even if it is just a little local park, just being out there instead of sitting in the house watching tv or sitting at my computer like a mouse potato, makes it a great day!

in reply to: Painful Paperless – Help With Plucker #1741068

wait a minute,in cachemate, i can find either the name of the cache in alphabetical order, or the GC number in numerical order. all you have to do is scroll to the one you want. i usually have around 400 in there at a time and it takes no time at all to find the one i want.
