in reply to: Ipod touch 2nd gen and Geocaching #1907871

just got the update to 2.1 and i wish i hadn’t. the app crashed and won’t even load. there seem to be a lot of bugs in it.
you can now load a pq updated within the last 7 days, but they don’t stay in the ipod touch unless you individually click them in. you can’t manipulate them in gsak first.
    i’m sticking with igeocacher.

in reply to: What’s the point of geocoins? #1909201

i think the people that put out the coins are very brave. i have a small collection that i have activated, and then archive them to one of my dead caches so they aren’t in my live listing. when i buy coins it is usually one for my collection and 1 or 2 to use as gifts to friends or fellow cachers. i use tb’s to put into caches. they go missing too, but cost less than the coins.

my most memorable insect encounter was at the geo picnic or campout a couple of years ago. we were with a group of cachers that were previously unknown to us. i was retrieving the container when i realized i was standing in an anthill, and they were climbing up my legs. i didn’t know if they were going to start biting, but i wanted them off immediately. that meant stripping to my underwear.
i had a car accident a couple of years ago in ripon. the gps wanted me to turn left. there was road construction and big arrows pointing to the left. unfortunately, i was in the right lane when i started the turn, and the guy slightly behind me and to my left was going straight. i couldn’t figure out why the car in my sideview mirror kept getting bigger and bigger. after the officer was finished with me, i went on to the park for the cache. of course, i did stop and cry a little first.
and then yesterday in west bend area, this car ahead of me was stopped, then he started up and so did i, but he had stopped again and bam, i got him. he never even got out to check, just drove off. i guess the bam wasn’t as big from his end.

my vet told me to grab them, and turn them slowly counter clockwise. that’s how they get them out of the dog and it worked well.

in reply to: igeocacher for iphone/ipod touch #1906326

you have to have wifi to load them, but then they are stored for use. the great thing is it loads the whole list. the groundspeak program at this point, makes you load each cache individually.

in reply to: using ipod touch and geocaching app #1905305

i’m looking at the ipod touch, so i don’t think the actual geocaching feature will work. (no 3g connection)
how does it work for looking up the cache information? i’m using a palm pilot and cachemate to get my cache info now, but the palm is dying.
