it runs something like gsak. but i would like some help in figuring out the intricacies. i wanted to know if it does custom icons for the caches like gsak, and how to print the map that shows the caches.
i use gsak in windows on my mac, but just hosed the virtual os and am waiting for a new copy of windows that i ordered.
i had a goal for this year to delete the rest of the duplicate logs, and to hit 1500 caches found. hit the 1500 today. so now i have no goals except to get out a little more than i did over the summer.
shouldn’t that be–moo-nique?
i got a bagful of tb’s from a friend who got them from a friend. seems that person was collecting them, not logging them. at least they didn’t throw them away. some of them had been out of circulation for over a year. i still have a few of them to place in caches, but i emailed all the owners letting them know the bugs were back in the game.
back to topic
i don’t read the cache page before a hunt. just do a pq and go. so getting to the area and seeing the no trespassing sign would stop me. a geocaching sticker with ok on your no trespassing signs, or adding something in the hint like ignore the no trespassing sign would work since the hints get uploaded to the gps when paperless caching.we did have a friend tell us that lemon juice on the stings would take the pain away.
but the point being that now i don’t have to hold onto the gps at all. and if i don’t want to use a stick that day, i don’t have to. and i’ll have my hands free for holding the vegetation away from my face while i can still look to see where i am going.
seems to be a common thing this summer, that many of us have backed off just a bit. i think it started with the hard winter, then the wet spring, then the mosquitoes and ticks, and the extreme price of gas. i decided to shift my focus and only do the kinds of hunts that i enjoy. no micros, no cemetaries, no guard rails. hopefully, by eliminating them, i can get more hikes in the woods. and i am pretty much only going out for large groupings of caches at a time with maybe a month or more in between.
mostly i don’t hunt micros anymore either, because generally they are not in interresting places, and it seems like more hiders don’t want the caches to be found. like ha-ha i’m a better hider than you are a finder.
but really, how many people look at the difficulty and terrain ratings of a cache? i download the PQ, install it to the GPS and go. paperless means i don’t always check it out ahead of time so i am not knowing if it is a 1/4 or a 3.5/2 and even if i did check, how many people rate them correctly?have to check the map and see where that is in relation to where i am going, i’ll pm you tomorrow
looks like a no-hands gps holder to me
i wanted the coin/decoder and it looks like it sold out in a day. i like working on those puzzles at work, so i’ll probably play. i haven’t actually looked at the game yet.
that’s my kind of puzzle. and i love the container, and it looks like a nice hike in the woods. go ahead and place one just like it somewhere near milwaukee!!!
it picked up the way i had the caches listed with code and name, and then the lower part with container, etc. i didn’t have to make any changes. but it is fun playing with it. now i have to get it out there and see how it works in the the wild.
thaks for all the help.thanks hogrod. i’ll try some of those things.
now how do i change this part? where do i look?
they only thing I did differently with this macro was change the Cache description output to this code: %con1(%Dif/%Ter)-%hint
