JD and I, along with our friend Paul found the Fox 6 cache. We took a photo and e-mailed it and a short note to the Channel 6. I got a reply and our photo is going to be on the news at 9:45pm on 4/10. It seems like there is going to be a mention of caching and photos almost every night. Good press eh?

I’ve had good luck with Sherpers, maybe I was looking when their inventory was low. All of my ammobox cache cans had come from there.

Not to change the subject, but to bend it a bit, the Lock-N-Lock plastic containers seem real tough, with 4 latches, one on each side, and a gasket seal all around.

Any F&F in extreme SE WI carry ammo boxes?

I’ve been to Sherpers, and the last time I was there, the boxes we either BIG or really rotten. There is a Sherpers N and W(near Waukesha?) but they were kind funky and rusty.

    Thanks for any help!

I’ve only done that accidentally. A trip up to northern Kettle Morraine had me leaving the house without my cache prinouts.

JD and I did fairly well. As I remember, we only didn’t find a couple out of about a dozen. Sometimes knowing what’s coming prevents us from even trying a cache. Maybe the cache looks too involved, or too many stages or whatever.

Now, when I’m going out of the area, I upload the cache pages to my laptop, and look at them in the vehicle, but not on the trail. I also use a system in the icons to descerne the types in my GPSR(like others have mentioned)

    I have 3994 within 100 miles.

    But here’s the math:

100 mile radius, taking away 1/2 for Lake Michigan, is 15708 square miles.

Taking the amount of caches, I end up with about 1 cache every 4 square miles. Imagine, if they were evenly spaced, every cache would be 2 miles apart from each other. I don’t know what else you could compare that to, but when some people say there may be too many caches, a 2 mile average spacing dosen’t seem too tight.

Yes, have too much time and math skills for my own good.

I joined a few weeks back, when I heard about the ‘virtuals’ heading off of the GC.com site.

I found a couple of waymarks and I created one out in Eagle Wisconsin. I hope some more people get into it and create meore waymarks in the area.

Dave, now that you’re into it, I’m sure you’ll help add a few more. Right now the choices are kind of sparce!
