Sandlanders mentioned the LCG at her event this weekend. My husband’s ears visibly perked up. He whispered to me, “I have to figure out what that’s all about…” and I whispered back that I already knew. He asked why I was keeping such secrets from him. LOL! I didn’t realize that he would be so interested in it, but I think you have a new “player” from here on out 🙂
Possibly a dumb question:
Do you need to get permission from the DOT or some other organization to place a cache on a bridge, sign post, right of way, guardrail, etc?
I’m checking out the help section on Geocaching.com and it tells me to get permission, but isn’t very specific. Obviously, it’s not going to give me WI information… but I thought it might give me a little more push in the right direction.
Thanks so much for all your help so far! We’re going to check out some public land near this cemetery. Also, I’ll make my husband start contacting around to find the cemetery management….Would it be strange if this was the first event that my husband and I are able to attend? The kids are flying out to Houston to stay with my sister for 19 days, and I think we could use some distraction. Should we try to attend a couple of other events first, before coming to this, so we can be a little more seasoned?
Great! We’ve changed our evil ways 🙂 I went back and logged a DNF from the 21st of April. Now I see that there was another DNF today, so I can see the importance of logging them.
All these little parts of geocaching that we didn’t really understand. Thanks for the guidance!Awesome! We’ll go back to that area in June, for sure. We’ve been meaning to, as I have a photo of me at the bottom of those stairs with the sign stating “Strenuous Climb,” or something of that nature. I was seven and a half months pregnant with my son, and went into labor two weeks later. It would be fun to get a picture with him by that sign, if it’s still there. He’s eight now!
So helpful! Thanks so much. It’s not often that people take my side, and I’m able to tell him “I told you so!” LOL!
He’s always worried that it’s in a container that is unusual. He’s waiting for the next person to find it, so that he can be sure that it’s there. I think that a great compromise will be a note saying that he didn’t find it, if he feels like we didn’t spend enough time searching. Thanks for the advice. We want to be fair for the hiders, and keep it fun for all! Thanks!
We were in Stevens Point last weekend, on a dedicated geocaching trip to our friends’ house. We found a cache, and I happened to notice Sandlanders had signed the log. It made me feel like I was home 🙂
We really enjoyed the library program experience, and it was great meeting some of the folks that we see sign the logs in the area. Sloughfoot told me to check out the WGA site, and I’m not sure why I put it off until now….
I think I’m going to learn A LOT here 🙂
Thanks for the nice welcome!I’m using an app on my iPod Touch called Geo Bucket.
It was free (I’m still too cheap to pay $10) and you can use it offline. We don’t have a cell phone, so I was limited to something that could be used offline. I’ve been liking it a lot. The first couple of days, we brought along the old binder. Just in case. We didn’t need it at all! We’re finding that outdated cache printouts are a thing of the past! -
