Both Dairy Queens went out of buisness in West Bend. Have to go to Kewaskum or Jackson for a Blizzard.
Just a reminder that Deerfest will be coming to the Washington County fairgrounds the same weekend as our cache ba$h. It will draw 20,000 hunters over the 3 day weekend. Vendors are getting/needing hotels as well as deerfest participants. If you haven’t gotten a hotel, I’d suggest you book one ASAP. Tami
Glad I got to wish you a congrats in person at the cache ba$h meeting…now I owe you a big hug. That’s a great ratio of finds to hides 😆 A big hug from the ecorangers family….way to go.
Congrats from the Ecorangers…thanks for picking our cache for your milestone. You sure write awesome logs.
Thanks! Hiding caches in the dead of winter has been very stimulating. Between the “LOOKING for a house series” and “I should be…series,”
it’s made the winter months go by quickly. Looking forward to this spring/summer where we can go out and find a bunch. 😆Available in winter and winter friendly are not the same thing. Winter friendly hide (to me) means the cache is not on the ground. Available in winter (to me) means it’s not located on premises that are closed for the winter. For example, I have some caches hidden in parks/waysides that are closed during the winter months. Thus those caches are not available in winter. The caches are still there but you could be breaking the law if that park/wayside says it is closed for the winter. I have some by Fox Ski Hill and they ask that hikers stay off the groomed ski trails so I disable those to deter the hikers from getting them. I usually type in the text that the cache is either a winter friendly hide or is not a winter friendly hide. Back in the day….we didn’t have attributes and you had to read the text to see what you were in for.
EnergySaver would take it to the next level and say how many inches it would be winter friendly too. Hope this helps. EAJust today… we (professor & earth angel) had to visit one of our caches because Wis Kid disabled it after 11 logged no finds and one needs maintenance log. Turns out the cache was still there!!!!!! So I added an extra hint to the hint and left a “bigger” cache container and put the original in it. Enjoy! EA
There is a 7th water cache. It is located in Little Cedar Lake. There is a boat rental right on the lake (a cache is planted here as well). If you are bringing your own canoe/kayak you may launch it there for a fee as opposed to a lot further away at Ackerman’s county park for a fee as well. The owner of the boat rental will have “one” available boat with a “guide” that will motor you out to the hiding spot. Not sure what she will be charging though? For those of you that have a “special connection” with earth angel, her dad is available for a personal escort in his boat for free. He lives on the other side of the lake/kettle. Tami
Happy Father’s Day to all the Father’s out there. Hope we have nice weather to be able to be outdoors tomorrow. We will be celebrating Father’s day with all the June Birthdays as well tomorrow. I’m baking two cakes right now (don’t laugh too hard everyone) as well as cleaning the house (now I know you are all really laughing your heads off). Hope to get at least one geocache in tomorrow. Tami
06/17/2010 at 1:18 am in reply to: 250 lb. black bear spotted in Kettle Moraine State Forest. #1929976To make a long story short, the bear was 12 feet up in a tree, they shot the bear with a tranquilizer dart, then the bear climbed another 5 feet, after 30 minutes of waiting for the bear to “sleep” they shot another dart in it, then the bear climbed even hire to about 30 feet and settled in a fork in the tree. In a few minutes the bear was unconsious and stuck in the forked branch. So the DNR officials took several unmounted tires, and inflated a number of large garbage bags that were tied to create cushions and placed them under a big tarp. When everything was in place, a Warden Supervisor climbed the ladder with a firefighter’s pole and pushed on the bear’s back side and it came loose. The bear hit a branch on the way down and did a 360 degree turn in midair. It landed on the custioned tarp, bounced up and rolled to the ground. They then loaded the bear into a cage on a trailer and drove it to northeast Wisconsin. AT 9:00pm, the bear walked off and climbed a tree….then it changed its mind, came down and walked away into the woods.!
Sorry, guess it was a long story afterall. It appears to have a happy ending…but can the bear find love? Tami
It took a whole 5 days from the day I sent in the request to the day I received it back signed from the DNR. I’ve worked with both Terry Jensen and Tom Isaac from Pike Lake and they both are awesome to work with! Tami 😀
I’m working on something for a fundraiser for a local west bend group. But, I need to check on a few things first. Hopefully my idea will work out….stay tuned.
So….does an “evil” monkey wear a life jacket when hiding caches along a River? hhmmm 😈
I would say “all of the above” except aliens 🙄
Is a “cache robber” considered a geocacher as opposed to it being muggled by a muggle? 😈 I believe I have a geocacher who on occasion will rob a cache of mine (earth angel’s) and not rob any of Professor’s. It reminds me of how my tb hotel, gc hotel, and jeep hotel have been raided awhile back by a geocacher/s and not a muggle 👿 But that’s another thread…Variety is the spice of life. ..plus I can say I never got poison ivy or got a wood tick from doing a lamp post hide. 😆
