How Ironic is that? 😈
WGA is getting away from logging multiple attended logs at WGA events YET our approvers via geocaching.com reviewers will NOT let West Bend also host an “adult event” Friday night that stands on its own nor a Flash Mob event on Sunday that stands on it’s own (meaning it gets it’s own cache page)? They want them to log multiple attended on the $1000 Cache Ba$H page for the other 2 events.
If you look up geowoodstock 6 they have 7 events within 5 days and they ALL get their own cache page!!! 🙄
Someone please explain! Tami
Back in the day…..when you logged a “found it” for attending an event rather than “attended” since “attended” was not on option, whoever hosted the event never got to claim a smilie for hosting the event since it was taboo to log a “found it” for your own cache/event!
Now, with the “attended” log, the event host is welcomed to earn a smilie by claiming an “attended” log, since they did in fact attend their own event. Tami
So why does a CITO event give you two options (log attended, log found it)?
My first CITO cache find was up in Minneapolis at least 3 years ago. Anyways, I went to where the coords took me and found an ammo box in the woods in a local park. When I logged my find, I noticed I had the option to log “attended” or “found it.”
Of course I logged a “found it” since I had not attended a CITO event there that day. After re-reading the cache page, a CITO event had been held there previously and a permanent cache was placed there as a reminder for all to practice CITO.
Hope this helps…
💡 Anyone else have any recollection on this topic?
Tami8) Thanks for suggesting this but WE are logging Temp. finds and groundspeak has NOT prevented us from doing so!!!! Tami
😆 Nice try mister Greenthumb. *i’m not going to bite. *no one is going to come across my new hides by mistake! 😉 See you all on the 16th.
I agree with Marc (which doesn’t happen very often 😳 ). If you ever replace an ecoranger’s log/book/sheet etc. take the old one with you! Tami
How’s it going? Any improvement? You are in our thoughts!
Miss ya. I still chuckle when I think back to Great Eyes White Elephant Gift Exchange Geocaching event…I was putting on my winter coat and what to my surprise did I find up my sleeve (insert huge smile here)???
You know 😆
Take Care! TamiWelcome back everyone!
Great more caches to hunt soon?
Mister Greenthumb has been busy planting caches in the sussex area.
Hope to see you on the trail or at an event? Tami and FamilyWelcome back you two err I mean three. Hope to see you on the trail or at an upcoming event. Tami and Family
Thanks for having a “sense of humor” Mr. GreenThumb aka Bill. 😆 Now to clarify… and I do apologize that I still don’t know how to quote someone (go ahead and laugh somemore)…
1) he (Bill) was just poking a little fun at me for not knowing you had to go to the Referendums to find where to vote. I’m okay with that (smiles). 😀
2) we (Bill & Tami) are attending EnergySavers event NEXT weekend (not this weekend) and there will only be permanent caches to hunt.
Hope this clears everything up to those of you who were confused?
Bill did e-mail me on the side….he’s such a nice guy! 8)
Tami 😛
Marc…go ahead and poke fun at me too! 😯 I can take it!
Don’t feel bad….I too had to ask where do you find the place to vote?
Just look to the left under the Main Menu and click on Referendums.
Tami 😀Two Things:
Multiple logging’s at WGA events have slowly decreased over the years? Why? I believe that it could have been due to the fact that 1) the event was held in September rather than August and fewer cachers attended than normal, 2) the terrain difficulty at the last picnic was very challenging thus total finds were down all around, and 3) people weren’t wanting to drive so far to attend the event????Second thing: I’m confused (not everyone has to laugh at once here). While registering for the WGA campout, I read in two different places that temp. caches would be available for the campout AND they are looking for volunteers to hide temp caches at the picnic? So when will we know if they are going to be temp caches at either the campout or picnic?
Easy Solution: As I’ve posted repeatedly on the forumns, groundspeak should let Wisconsin events log event caches like they do for CITO events. You have the option to log “an attended” and option to log “found it.”
If there was ONE WGA boardmember who would contact groundspeak and suggest this to them, maybe it would work.I remember quoting Jeremy Irish saying something like, “he’s not losing sleep over Wisconsin logging temp. caches, I’m not losing sleep over my logging temp. caches but why are you losing sleep over it? Tami
Lastly, what if a WGA member hosts their own event and has the WGA logo (or whatever you call it saying I’m a member of the WGA), on their event page…are you going to ask them not to put the WGA endorsement on their cache page?
While caching in Florida over Spring break, earth angel picks up a deer tick on the back of her leg and it was in good. Took it out with a tweezers and flushed it down the toilet in our hotel (sorry if that was too much info). Smiles. Tami
Marc, you are so right!!!! I can’t even figure out how to “quote” you here so everyone knows what I am talking about. I’m so old school that today I printed off multi and puzzle caches that I will be hunting over Easter Break coming up!
Marc, I’m looking forward to attending your Puzzle event but I’m passing on the paperless event. You are single, you do everything…..I’m married, I chose NOT to (learn) to do everything (smiles). Tami
Now, quit picking on me (Bigger Smile!) 😥
Didn’t recognize some of the “newbie” names that came through West Bend this weekend. My e-mail in-box has been filling up with all the logs.
Glad to see cachers are out and about. Tami -
